Kaveh knew it was completely his own doing that he was slumped on the curb outside a tavern, with millions of mora in debt and no house to his name. He's done it! He'd finished the Palace of Alcazarzaray, his magnum opus, he's proved all of his seniors and professors and random gossipers on the streets who said he'll kill himself trying to build the Palace wrong! He's not dead, just homeless and broke.
He's fine. The Akademiya stipends will cover his debt within a few months, and he can always take on new commissions to get enough to eat and sleep. It was worth it, to bring his dream into reality and to raise the proverbial middle finger at the Sages who thought his dreams and art were a waste of resources.
He's fine.

“Zhongli said we should talk.” Childe admits, shifting now after a moment or ten of silence. Xiao was content with it just staring the increasingly twitchy mortal down. “Did he?”
“Yes.” The ginger straightens now, eyes locked on him, Xiao hates how tall he is. “I— I really like your dad Xiao—“
“What!??“
“What?” Childe blinks, face going from serious and firm to anxious and confused in a second.
“He is not my…father.” Xiao doesn’t know why saying that irritates him so much why everything feels eerily delicate and useless.
“Oh.” Childe blinks. He looks surprised. “I- really? Does he know that?”
“Zhongli is aware he is not my father, what is this line of questioning!?”
“I-“ Childe stops. Shaking his head after a moment, a truthful smile on his face. “He really cares about you, that's all. Sorry if I offended you.”
“I’m not offended.” Xiao bristles. “What was it Zhongli wished us to discuss?”

Summary
Tighnari snickers. “Sorry, sorry.” He reaches out and runs a hand through Cyno’s hair, cooing, “You’re a very good boy, too. Better?”
What he’s expecting is Cyno to pull away with a huff, rolling his eyes. What he gets, though, is much more interesting.
Cyno’s breath hitches, his eyes widening a fraction, and it’s as if he’s stuck looking at Tighnari, confused, before he snaps himself out of it and pulls away. Can’t quite look Tighnari in the eye as he responds with, “That isn’t necessary,” a beat too late and voice wavering a little too much at its edges.
Tighnari cocks his head to the side, gaze sharpening. Oh. Interesting.
Now this bears further examination.

Summary
If he’s being honest (which feels like a rarity these days, hehe), Venti’s half-hoping that he’ll bump into Zhongli and everything will be a stupid prank and he’ll hit his blockhead a couple of times on the chest because he can’t reach his head and everything will be okay.
And they can attend his funeral together because that’s a normal thing friends do for each other.
…“Unbelievable. How did this silly blockhead become my best friend, again?”

With the Rite of Parting just around the corner and the fall of his oldest friend, Venti finds himself at a loss. Does he even want to know what comes next? What kind of future can he build for the late Geo Archon, what dream does he define in the thousand winds forever?
After each memory is painstakingly set in stone, Venti wishes he could turn back the clock. Maybe, by meeting with old acquaintances and reminiscing about what could have been, he can try to paint a picture of what Zhongli would have wanted.
OR: Zhongli neglected to inform the Anemo Archon that his death was faked.

Tighnari had thought he was fine.
Aside from the occasional little spasm that twitched through his shoulder at random times of the day, he had thought he had completely recovered. With the amount of electricity the nerves had had to endure, it was only logical, expected even, to keep feeling the effects until a little later.
The Lichtenberg figures that had run along his back had faded as time went on. The skin where the burn wound had been was still a little sensitive, but after warning Collei about it and asking her to not tap his left shoulder to get his attention, it hadn’t been a problem.
In the weeks after the Pardis Dhyai incident, Tighnari truly had been feeling better.
It wasn’t until a month after the scene that he began to have doubts about that.
