After the Fire, Cardassia has become nothing more than a dying ember, barely holding onto warmth.
What better way to preserve that warmth than to hold each other?

Summary
Julian stood in the small refresher with nothing but his standard Starfleet boxer briefs on. It would have been a rather welcome look on him, save for the fact that he was staring with frenzied eyes at the mirror, fingers buried in his hair.
No. Not buried in his hair. Trying to pry whatever State-forsaken plastic thing that only vaguely resembled hair off his scalp.
Julian Bashir managed to make it through the Defiant's covert mission on the 23rd Century Enterprise with only one casualty: his hair. Thankfully, there's a tailor on the station who might be able to save it.

“Don’t avoid it,” Nanne said firmly. “Face it, Astarion. You would have killed me.”
They spoke about a hypothetical, he knew. They would never know just how close he’d come that night, ten years ago, to making their words a reality. How gladly he would have let them die, all for the sake of a rotting rat and avoiding the lash, were it not for some flash of conscience.
“I would have killed you,” he choked out, and the words destroyed him.
-----
Ten years ago, hunting food for Cazador, Astarion makes a choice to spare a young bard instead of bringing them to his master. Ten years later, they reunite, unaware that one was once predator and the other prey.

“So, I must ask — why Astarion?” Gale asked
“Well, he’s an onion.”
Gale laughed, the churl. “Ah, I see what you mean.”
What? No. What in the sweet hells was “He’s an onion” supposed to mean? An onion? Not even a refined and sophisticated vegetable. An onion?

Summary
"I have family in Hoshido. But I also have family in Nohr. They both mean something to me, Azura. Even if they all despise me… Even if they can never accept me as their family again, I can’t side with one over the other. This is the road I’ve taken. I will not abandon it now.”
With Corrin's choice to make her own fate, both of her families find themselves colliding in unexpected ways: falling in love, forming deep friendships, and strengthening old ties. Together, they'll discover what it really means to be family... and perhaps a few more surprises along the way. Based off the Revelation Path.

Summary
The choices we make, or others make for us, change who we become. Or do they?
Julian Bashir was meant to be a doctor. But when his augment status nearly comes to light at Starfleet Academy, he pivots—quietly, strategically—into engineering, hiding among Starfleet's remote outposts. His latest assignment: a contested Class-P planet, where the days stretch to 27 hours and the company is limited to a handful of observers… including one Garak. Charming. Cryptic. Dangerous?
Cut off from the rest of the galaxy by atmospheric interference, Julian finds himself navigating more than the frigid planet surface. As he and Garak find themselves in close quarters—and closer conversations—the outpost begins to fail. Hidden agendas surface, and a fragile alliance may be the only thing standing between survival and ruin.
A ‘butterfly flaps its wings’ AU where Julian and Garak cross paths years before the events of DS9.

Summary
The one where the station's in a time loop, and Garak is the only one who seems to notice.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
This time, Garak doesn't tell him about Mila and Tain. He doesn't tell him anything. They just lie there together and he soaks in Julian's body heat and feels, for a moment, that he is very, very lucky to have this. Even though it's not real. Even though, tomorrow, they will have another clean slate.
It is 25:59 and counting. Julian's fingers card through his hair.
"I love you," Garak says, before the clock ticks down.

Summary
After nine happy months on Cardassia Prime, an unfortunate incident breaks the spell and starts to affect everything in Julian Bashir’s life- from his work, to his relationship, to his plans for the future. He decides to finally take a long-overdue vacation on Earth.
(A post-canon story about enduring friendships, healing, growth, commitment, and finding where you belong.)
CW: This story delves into Cardassia’s legacy of colonialism and violence, and the plot is kicked off by an incident involving xenophobia and sexual assault. It doesn’t happen during the fic, and is only described non-explicitly- but do mind the tag, because it’s referenced often. Chapter-specific warnings are also included.

Bookmarker's Notes
Post Canon Cardassia Garashir, temporary separation but very happy ending, overcoming trauma together but separately. A VERY good examination of what xenophobia looks like on Cardassia, how it impacts their relationship, and what sort of sacrifices both sides would have to give to make the relationship work while also being authentic and true to themselves.
