"And what else could this be if not your recording?" Dick waves the small device in his hand.
"There's only one way to figure it out," Jason hints.
"I'm not sure, Jason. This might be something personal," Dick looks worried but also intrigued.
"Maybe it's a recording the kids' parents made," Jason shrugs.
"Could be," Dick concedes as he plugs the small device into the screens and settles back to watch.

the house was abnormally quiet. alhaitham was supposed to be home before the architect, but the lack of lighting in the small space was eerily terrifying. there wasn’t a single sound. no appliances, no music. there weren’t even any windows open to draw in the sound of the light breeze. it was unsettling, really.
though, amongst the quiet, kaveh could hear the softest of sniffles.
or,
kaveh finds alhaitham in a moment of pure vulnerability, and attempts to comfort him. he's not very good at it, though.

He let out a pleased sigh before he could stifle it, and leaned into that warmth. It felt like that void inside of his chest was slowly, steadily being filled, like the weight was being eased. He felt more than heard Kaveh’s hum, like the architect had been proven right about something Alhaitham was not privy to. At the same time, the hand still cradling the back of his head began to scratch at his scalp, fingers combing through his hair. He groaned appreciatively, and melted even further into Kaveh’s grasp.
At that, Kaveh let out the prettiest little laugh, but Alhaitham was too busy basking in the warmth and comfort to feel embarrassed.
Alhaitham learns what it's like to feel loved.

He took a step into the room, and carefully watched Alhaitham’s reaction. The man simply lowered his head. He seemed so… passive for once. What the fuck? What started as confusion and uncertainty quickly spiraled into a deep set worry. Kaveh went forward, and lowered himself to kneel on the floorboard in front of Alhaitham’s feet, resting his hands on Alhaitham’s knees.
“Hey,” His voice was softer than a feather. “Are you okay?”
Alhaitham stared at him. The tears only seemed to continue flowing. He was crying, he was crying right? Then why…?
“Why do you cry so… quietly?”

Alhaitham studied the senior in question. She had hair down to her hips, and was currently laughing with some friends as she pulled it back casually into a ponytail.
Alhaitham then studied Kaveh. Kaveh looked entranced: jaw a little slack; coral eyes wide.
"You... really like long hair?"
Kaveh startled, blinked. "Yeah, I suppose I do," he said.
Alhaitham studied the flush of Kaveh's cheeks, his unrelenting gaze. "I see," he said.
Alhaitham grows his hair out. He has been growing his hair out since they were students. It falls to his hips in a river of silver and green. Kaveh looks, and looks, and looks.

It’s almost like that night, with the torrential rains that batter down against their faces, wiping out any trace of emotion in favor of a pained squint against the water.
Kaeya stands before him, battered, lacking proper stability and frowning at him as if he can’t believe the person he sees is really right in front of him.
Diluc has his claymore in hand, the blade still sizzling from the use of elemental power now rapidly cooling down, and nearly drops it at the realization of what had just happened.
It’s all so eerily similar. Yet, this time, instead of telling Kaeya to turn around and leave, Diluc takes a step in his direction.
