Summary
The first time she comes barreling into the house like the devil’s on her heels, he’s on his feet with his gun in hand at once, stepping between her and the door, sure an intruder is about to burst through after her. He readies himself for a fight, already planning how to get an attacker out of the house and away from Ellie.
And then he hears her laughing.
He turns to see her, panting and sweaty, laid out on the floor like she’s a rug, her face practically glowing with the force of her smile. She lifts both hands to the air in fists and cheers.
“What are you doing,” he asks, but the question comes out flat in light of his confusion. He gives the door one more look, but no intruder is imminent, and he holsters his gun, going to one knee beside Ellie, still on her back, breathing hard.
“I beat it!” She says, clearly proud about whatever the hell she’s talking about.
“Beat what?” He asks.
“Curfew!” She nearly crows.
He blinks.
It’s possible they’ve had a misunderstanding about what exactly a curfew is.

Joel’s plumb out of luck, it seems, because running after the dog is the little girl. She’s out of breath, still halfway laughing, and for a few seconds she doesn’t notice him. In those seconds, her face is wide open in a grin, dark hair wild and posture loose. She can’t be more than thirteen, maybe a small fourteen, and she’s clumsy in the way teenagers are right after a growth spurt. There’s a knife in Joel’s chest, the one that’s been there for twenty years, and it twists.
(or, joel accidentally gets a dog. apparently, the dog comes with a mouthy fourteen-year-old kid, and maybe also a reason for living again.)

Summary
She thought he saved her. He knew better.
An American woman, presumed dead by the world, is accidentally discovered during a mission in Mexico. She's been kept for a year and is barely alive. She's cared for by the 141, it's unsafe for her to return home just yet, but it becomes increasingly clear that something else is at play.
Ghost knows to keep his head on straight, even when he's assigned to question her, to test her loyalty.
He's the one that gets tested when he discovers that no mask could hide him from her.Her connections are dangerous. His enemies want her. All she wants is to live again.
Cartel related storyline, soft Simon, soft female OC. Other characters make important appearances. Not historically or Call of Dutily accurate, although I tried my best.
Shamelessly slow burn. 'Eventual smut' is my favorite tag.
CW: Allusion to sexual assault, allusion to abuse, plenty of trauma

Summary
He doesn’t notice that one of her shoes is untied until a lace gets caught in a notch of a log as they pass, sending her down hard.
The momentum of her fall sends him thudding against a tree, and his eyes slam shut as he grits his teeth against the white hot pain that flares in his side.
When he opens his eyes, she’s facedown in the snow, still and silent, hands still at her sides making it clear that she didn’t even try to catch herself.
It speaks of so much trauma, so much unresponsiveness, that he feels tears sting his eyes at the sheer scale of what’s happened to her, of how small and useless he is to fix any of it, of how much he’s let her be hurt by his own failure to protect her.
But there’s no time for his own self-loathing.
She needs him, insufficient as he is.

“We should get married,” Kyoshi says suddenly, rolling over and propping herself up on her arms so she’s eye-level with Rangi, big green eyes bright with excitement.
“What?” Rangi says. There must be some grass on her forehead because Kyoshi’s hand comes up to swipe at something on her face, but from the way Kyoshi’s face crinkles when her fingers brush over her eyebrows, Rangi’s probably making an ugly face.
“We’re always together,” Kyoshi reasons, “so we should get married. So that we’ll be together forever.”
“I don’t wanna marry you,” Rangi says. Kyoshi’s face falls so quickly, she’s never worn a mask and everything she thinks she shows.
“Oh,” Kyoshi says quietly. “That’s okay.”
