Summary
Kara plays the part well.
She smiles at the right moments, lets herself be pulled into tight embraces, laughs in the way she’s supposed to. She tells Alex she’s fine, tells J’onn she’s okay, tells Nia she’s happy to be home.
And they believe her.
They want–need–to believe her.
Lena is the only one who doesn’t.
She sees the way Kara’s fingers twitch at her sides when she thinks no one is looking. The way her eyes keep darting to the shadows, searching, flickering, doubtful. The way she smiles but it never reaches her eyes.

Summary
When Kara got sent away back to the Phantom Zone, Lena put her big, dark feelings aside, desperate to save her once-friend from the only thing she knew that scared Kara. She worked herself to the bone, subsisting on caffeine and twenty-minute catnaps she refused to admit were naps at her desk, amidst old coffee cups and scattered paperwork littered with crossed-out equations.
It took longer than she'd wanted, but they'd finally succeeded. They'd finally gotten Kara back.
But she's not back for Lena. Lena's heart beats easier knowing that Kara isn't lost in that hellscape anymore, but that doesn't make them friends again. It doesn't make them anything.

She couldn’t do anything. Her Father was right. He warned her it would be safe to stay in the cave and simply avoid the Phantoms for any hope of survival or even to keep their sanity. She didn’t listen.

Summary
Post Phantom zone season 6 fic.
I got this plot idea from The X Files, when Mulder comes back from being abducted... lol
obviously it will be much different from that, but It's so hard for me not to compare Scully/Mulder to Kara/Lena, especially with the whole phantom zone plot in the show.
More of a fast burn, and a hint of a past kiss before Kara gets vanished to the phantom zone.
Lena takes Kara back to her apartment after recovering in the tower from the phantom zone, and Kara comes to a discovery.
