He tries to get up and see the source but pain strikes through his neck and it all comes rushing back; Owen leading him so far out, the room, the unbelievable contract, Owen confessing his crimes, all the greens appearing and the great-axe swinging at him.

Whenever Ros told them that the Fools were family Foolish had always silently rejected the notion. He already had a family and he lost them. He was growing to hate the word and the world of hurt associated with it. In his head they weren’t family but it seems his heart didn’t listen, because if it didn’t he wouldn’t be feeling like all the life has been sucked out of him, like it died along with Ros.

Summary
He tries not to think too much about his lost family, it’s a can of worms he’d rather stay closed lest he crack open in a way that would be hard to go back from. It’s hard though when he’s pretty sure a reincarnation of the daughter he once lost is bouncing around the castle. He curses the gods for this cruel joke.
He’s built a metaphorical dam to keep those emotions at bay and he’ll make sure it stays intact.

Summary
Foolish was tired. Every time he returned to the castle and sat on his throne, he was bombarded with requests from people in and out of his kingdom who wanted his help. He was a charitable guy, and he really did try to satisfy everyone, but every task he completed and war he prevented left little cracks in the happy facade he often wore.
It was these circumstances that left him unfazed when Bad and Pangi approached him in the throne room after a particularly taxing day.
