Virgil is an abused teenager that uses music as an escape and works at an instrument shop. Roman is a singer/songwriter but doesn't really know how to play and care for instruments. He brings his ukelele all the time for Virgil to fix but one day he comes in with his guitar. Him and Virgil argue a little and Roman asks a question.

Summary
Some people are born with genetic mutations where they are part animal. It is very rare, but it happens. Virgil was one of those people. Hybrids like him are seen as abominations and treated as lesser than, and in extreme cases sold on the black market for slavery. Which is what happened to Virgil once his caring mom died and he was left with only his abusive father.
After ten years living in a cage, Virgil has come to accept everything horrible that has been said about him. But then, three people come looking to save a hybrid, and they pick Virgil.
While Virgil's physical cage may be unlocked, will Virgil ever learn to unlock the cage he has trapped himself in in his own mind, and learn that maybe he isn't just an abomination, and is in fact a person, or will he drown in his own thoughts for the rest of his life?
And, at the same time as learning to feel safe, can Virgil and the others free the other hybrids from Virgil's fate of the last ten years, or will Virgil's fear and the other's lack of knowledge keep others locked in a cage forever? -

Peter was halfway finished with the sandwich when his eyes caught sight of something fluttering in the wind. At his feet, there was a discarded newspaper. The wind had caught it and was blowing the pages open, revealing one of the articles on the inside.
A picture spread across the top of the article. It was of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, standing in front of a sign and holding a missing poster in front of them.

She was ok, despite an awkward situation-ship, discreetly only going by her last name, and her aunt drowning in grief. Things were getting normal. Then there was a small itsy-bitsy spider. And some nuclear radiation. And all of a sudden Parker realized she had powers and the Avengers were desperately in need of help. But would they really trust a teenage girl? Definitely not, so Parker is going to try to join as a young man. She is definitely only going as a man to better hide her identity... no other reason.

A "She's the Man" AU where Peter decides to have a male superhero persona to hide his identity, but he quickly realizes he might enjoy the 'living as a guy' thing a bit too much.
