Summary
I like Re-Animator, I like Evil Dead. Inspired partially by Ash vs Evil Dead and post-Bride, pre-Beyond, this is an alternative au where Ash meets Herbert early on, and has to deal with the deadites because, much like in Ash vs, he is irresponsible and often high.
Might be continued, if it is, will dive into Dan/Francesca, might bring back Hill since he's a cockroach, and could potentially lead into Ash vs so Kelly and Pablo get to exist. They're perfect. Additionally, I do enjoy old men Ashbert.

Summary
Following the events of Bride of Re-Animator, Dr. West and Dr. Cain escape to a small desert town in the hopes of continuing their work. Herbert’s new theory about the aggression of their re-animated subjects is related to the pineal gland, so he proposes that they make use of the Pretorius Resonator, an ill-fated invention created by a Miskatonic professor. However, when the machine has unexpected side effects, the two men are forced to confront feelings they have kept dormant for years.

“You came back?” Herbert said, voice soft.
Dan just nodded slightly. A lump rose in Dan’s throat. Herbert’s response had ripped a small tear in Dan’s heart. He’d never seen West look so…lost. So dazed and unguarded. Uncertainty replaced the typically acute stare behind those thick lenses. Dan tenderly reached for Herbert’s trembling hand. Finally holding onto the hand he regretted letting go of. He expected Herbert to flinch at his touch. Instead, Herbert gripped Dan’s hand like it was the only thing tethering him to reality.
Basically: Herbert dies in the Miskatonic Massacre and Dan re-animates him, hurt/comfort ensues.

After a Decepticon spy critically injured Longarm, he was left with barely a stellar-cycle's worth of memories, no chance of getting into the Elite Guard and a place on a lowly Spacebridge repair crew. His only comforts being the one friend he made during Autoboot camp, his kind docbot and long road to recovery in front of him.
But between protecting the Allspark on a fascinating organic world and becoming good friends with his team, Longarm began finding his place again in the universe, he wished for it to remain this way forever.
He should have wished harder.
