Summary
Hyunjin wants to snort at the idiocy of it all - the premise, the set-up, the fact that they’re all here and intending to participate - but thankfully, he refrains. Instead, he’s reminded of how tonight will be the last night he and Changbin can spend together in almost a month, because after this they will be staying in separate rooms while they all date around for five days.
After that, there’s going to be some kind of ceremony where they get paired up with someone who isn’t their own partner, and proceed to live with this essential stranger for three weeks before having to make the choice of whether they want to pursue something with the stranger, whether they want to return to their original partner and marry them, or whether both relationships will end and Hyunjin will go home by himself to start all over again.

“I’m not sure who the person I’ll spend the rest of my life with is yet,” Hyunjin declares, watching Minho’s eyebrows climb higher in surprise, “but I’m pretty sure about the next few weeks.”

They both needed to grow, both needed to see the world more, fix up their careers & all. They didn't need to be in a relationship to love each other. They didn't need each other to fulfill their voids.

Minho… that was Minho’s voice, Changbin just hadn’t been able to smell him because Minho had always smelled of campfire to him, and the actual campfire Minho had built inside the cave was masking his scent. “W-What’re you doing here?” Changbin asked when Minho finally released him and moved back over to sit down beside the campfire.
“What do you think? Probably the same as you, I’m hiding,” Minho replied, tossing a stick into the fire to keep it going. “I was enjoying some peace and quiet until you decided to come in and posture on me.”
“How did you know about this place?” Changbin asked, still confused on why Minho was in his cave.
“This has been our pack territory for years, baby alpha. I know every square inch of it, as does everyone else in the pack,” Minho said, in that infuriatingly mocking and amused tone that never failed to rile Changbin’s alpha up further. Changbin felt his cheek flush red at being put in his place by Minho, reminding him once again for how little time Changbin had been an alpha and that he was far from the top dog in the territory.

“Good morning sweetheart,” he takes a seat beside Hyunjin, setting the plate down in front of himself. “Did Chan help you last night?”
Hyunjin doesn’t even get a chance to respond before Minho is pulling him out of his seat with a little squeak. He lands in Minho’s lap, strong arms wrap around his middle and Minho’s chin settles over his shoulder. He’s entirely forgotten the question as he enjoys the contact with his witch.
His first witch.
“He did,” Hyunjin purrs, leaning back onto Minho’s chest.
“Good.” Minho responds, kissing Hyunjin’s shoulder and taking a gentle hold of Hyunjin’s tail. Minho always held him with so so much love. Sometimes he couldn’t tell if Minho was packing magic into his touch or not because of it, because of how sweet and gentle it was anyway.
