Summary
In the aftermath of the war against the Abyss, Dainsleif comes across the body of the man who gave up his life to save the nation of Natlan. Finding the name of the man is easy, and given their shared homeland, and the fact that he has finished cleaning up the Abyss Order in the region, his next step seems obvious. Find a way to learn about Thrain's past so that another Khaenri’ahn life is not forgotten and lost forever. But the past is never as simple as one would hope, and as various factions begin closing in on the body sitting on the throne atop Ochkanatlan, and Dainsleif's feelings for the man who used to inhabit it become more complicated, he must choose what he is willing to compromise on to get what he wants, and decide if that sought-after past is really one still worth saving.

"Now why would I do that?" Steve smiled at Bucky's laugh, then very carefully turned back to the drawing. He didn't hold the pencil too tightly and snap it, or press too hard and rip the paper.
