Summary

As they make their way inside, the cave echoes their footsteps like an empty contest hall-- spacious, but lonely and dark. They tread through the sand, down a worn-out natural staircase in the stone, and Maxie’s eye follows the high-water mark as the path takes him further and further below it.
(I'm old-fashioned so this is set in the Emerald timeline, but I also make mention of Maxie wearing glasses and Archie having a full beard, so... it's flexible. I think.)

TL; DR I put my ship on a ship, they kiss eventually and have a lot of feelings on a boat in the rain
Emotions and melancholy, but also oddly a lot of memes. like there’s one part where they rob a juice stand and there’s an awkward bathroom scene. if you want a good mix of serious writing and also not, this might be it
This is the first book in a 3 part series. A prequel and a sequel will eventually follow.

Join for the second installment of The Dead Sea Trilogy, in which Maxie and Archie struggle together as unlikely friends, fighting their way through a grueling “research competition” that has actually been set up by members of Team Rocket. They travel the region in search of the legendary Pokemon assisted, in part, by members of Team Rocket themselves, as well as Colress Achroma, a wealthy engineering student, who is not there to win any prizes as much as he is just to commit crimes.
Will Maxie be able to uncover Team Rocket’s plot before feeding valuable information directly into their hands? And even if he does manage to do that, can he keep the same information from the one he’s grown to confide in the most?
There are scenes interspersed from both Maxie’s past and future that demonstrate the origins of Team Magma, and reveal how both he and Archie became the evil team leaders they are today.

Summary
With no resourceful ten year olds to stand in their way, the only race that Magma and Aqua have to their end goals is with each other. When Team Magma makes it there first, it falls on Archie and Team Aqua to stop them from turning Hoenn into a desolate wasteland.
Unfortunately, they soon after discover that stopping the apocalypse is just the beginning.
More unfortunately, it turns out the only ones capable of stopping the resulting cascade are Archie and Maxie. And they don't historically have a good track record.
Oh, and nobody mentioned the orbs would have side effects.
(Or: What not to do when there aren't a pair of Arceus-chosen plucky tweens to clean up your mess.)

A shameless g/t indulgence fic pretty much entirely inspired by Arrietty. Sfw interactions only (minus some angst maybe).
Everything takes place in modern day, but in a fictional reality where little beings (borrowers) live in the walls and take things that humans don't need. They're incredibly timid creatures, but excellent survivors and very agile. They'd look 100% human if not for their nose, ears, tails, and feet.
Carter is the youngest in a family of four, resilient with a daredevil spirit. After a tragic turn of events he's left to fend for his own, and manages alright, until the unimaginable happens.
But.. things may not be as bad as they seem.
