“Peter, is it supposed to be doing that?” One of his students asked him. He looked up to see the industrial-strength magnets he’d collected for this lab trying to crack through the glass between them to be reunited. The glass splintered.
“Yeah, no. That’s totally fine,” he lied. Then he inconspicuously chased everyone to the corner of the lab, donned a glove, and smashed the glass so that it wouldn’t splinter and stab someone in the eye in its explosion.
His students cheered.
He needed a drink.
(Peter gets called back to the city at the age of 25 to help mitigate the rapidly increasing crime rate. He's in way over his head, so he sets out to re-establish Team Red.)

It's hard to keep a straight face at that.
Clark's lips curve into a fond smile as he chuckles and shakes his head, leaning back against his seat, a hand rubbing across the nape of his neck.
"Yeah. Maybe I have. The coffee's great here. And the company is really nice." Clark offers a smile as he meets Bruce's eyes, holding his gaze for a beat too long before returning it to his pie.
He doesn't miss the way Bruce's heart rate stutters at his comment.

A Season 2 AU in which Will Graham did not, at any point, accuse Hannibal of being the Chesapeake Ripper.
Will Graham is the smartest person most people will ever have the misfortune to meet. Hannibal Lecter has been no exception; he's brilliant, but his failing is that he assumes he's the mastermind in every situation. He still thinks Will didn't pick up on every weird joke, every coincidence, every threat disguised as a charming quip, every flashing neon sign that screams "Hannibal Lecter is the Chesapeake Ripper!"
Now, Will has to decide what he wants from Hannibal. For the first time in his life, it seems like there's a possibility that somebody might be close enough to his level for a real connection. Hannibal is an apex predator in a garish suit, blind to Will's superior camouflage, and the Ripper's obsession with Agent Graham is so obvious it's drawing attention from... undesirable sources. If Will can manipulate everything to his desired outcome, Hannibal could become the equal Will has always wanted.
If he wants to protect their fragile peace, it'll take a lot more than just Hannibal Lecter.
That's fine. After all, Will has never been able to stop himself at just one stray.

Summary
“Are you saying that’s me?” Will asks quietly. “That I flew too close?”
Hannibal wets his lips, then steps closer, and the quiet precision of it leaves Will breathless. He lifts a hand to Will’s shoulder, then another to his face, cradling him with such care that Will finds himself caught with nowhere to look but into Hannibal’s eyes, and nothing to hear but his voice. For a moment, the whole world narrows to the warmth of his hands and the weight of his gaze.
“I’m saying you climbed higher than most men dare, Will,” he says. “You looked into the minds of monsters. You walked their halls, saw their dreams, their appetites.”
Will closes his eyes, the feeling of hopelessness starting to wash over him again.
“And now you’re falling. And no one knows how to catch you.” There’s a pause, long enough and quiet enough for Will to hear his blood rushing in his ears. He feels desperately hot in Hannibal’s hands, but it feels so good to be held that he daren’t pull away. “Except perhaps me.”

OR: A string of child murders bring Will and Hannibal on the road together. Between long drives, cheap motels, and unspeakable violence, something raw and undefineable begins to take shape between them.

“And why would he do that?” Will asks, but it comes out weak, “He’ll either… Sense that it’s a trap and ignore it, or he’ll be disinterested. He tried to kill me Jack, why would he return if he got what he wanted? He has no reason to… To care about me. About that.”
“I know that he will want to be sure. And I know as well as you do that he didn’t intend to kill you that night. Even if he senses a trap, he’ll consider himself too clever to be caught. He will come back for you. To claim you, one way or another.”

OR: After the events of Mizumono (S2E13), Jack goes a little off the rails. In an effort to lure Hannibal back and save Will from himself, he kidnaps Will and fakes his death. His plan works, but not in the way he expects...

Summary
The death of Will’s father came suddenly and unexpectedly. After eight years of almost no contact, Will hadn’t expected to feel anything at all, and in a way he was right. But in another way he was completely wrong. He doesn’t feel nothing, what he feels is the absence of something, and it looms over him constantly like a heavy, unshakeable shadow, always present but never fully seen. There’s a knot in his stomach and a lump in his throat that won’t go away. He feels restless and incomplete. He feels the permanent burgeoning of something, like he’s on the brink of an abyss, and it scares him to death.
Eventually, Will realises the dogs and the alcohol in the quiet of his new home aren’t enough, and he finds himself trudging through the snow to a bar he’s passed several times but never once ventured inside of. Just to be somewhere new, just to feel something different.
That’s how he meets Hannibal.

OR: NICHE AU ALERT! In an effort to escape his conflicting emotions, Will turns to alcohol. Hannibal helps Will conquer his habit and find freedom from his traumas through escalating sexual advances.
