They are all such awful affairs. People gorging themselves on pork, mutton, and partridge, the nouveau riche and old money families posturing in front of each other like two birds competing for a mate, pretending they weren’t base enough to drink themselves into a blind stupor, that they had the barest inkling that they knew what they were discussing at the dinner table and on the dance floor. It’s all so nauseating to watch, and even worse to perform.

Arven wipes his eyes, looking down at his rotom phone. Currently, he was looking at a picture of his little buddy and two people surrounding them. A lady with long black hair, with bangs that covered the majority of her face, and a shorter boy with their hair tied back. They looked happy.
Unfortunately, there was something wrong with the photo. His little buddy, his best friend, was looking at the boy. That in itself isn’t bad, but it’s the way they were looking at him. Arven had never seen that look, that little glimmer in their eye; he longed for that look directed towards him.
Arven loves someone who doesn’t love him.

What happens when you do it, when you get out there and prove everyone wrong. Show everyone that your the best, that you really did it?
What happens when there’s nowhere else to go? What happens when you realize that there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and now your all alone, at the end of a long road with no one by your side and nothing to show for it?
How would you react, knowing that everything you’ve worked for, to prove yourself, was all hollow in the end. How would that make you react? How would you feel?
