The conversation ends with neither side winning, and Vanya is left alone, about to make a choice she’ll regret — a choice that will change everything. Meanwhile, Diego leaves, retreating into a childhood coping habit to keep himself steady, and Klaus sees firsthand how Diego survived Reginald.
A prequel to The Umbrella Academy, but Diego was closer to Vanya, so he went to her instead of withdrawing.
