Zagreus refused to slay the Titan of Time. Though he is quick to learn he’s made a terrible mistake, he now has a spear through his chest, he is kept in prison in a pocket of time, and he is also far, far too late to warn his sister.
Now, a wounded and poisoned Melinoë is forced to prepare for the Titan's devastating attack on the Crossroads.
If she could tell Zagreus one thing, it would be this: some crimes can never be forgiven, and forgiveness was and will never be a boon.

Killing Time is easier said than done, however, and rumor has it he's gained control of the three Fates; a death sentence for the forces of Olympus and the Crossroads, if true.
But as with all things the Fates have a hand in, the truth is more complicated than it may seem. Melinoe must navigate a war on three fronts to save the ones she loves most; all of Past, Present, and Future hang in the balance.

Slightly AU, effectively a canon rewrite of Hades II starting from midgame. "The god tilts his head. “I apologize, I’ve been rude. I am Zagreus, prince of the Underworld, god of blood and rebirth.” He winks at him. “Sorry you had to see me come out of the Styx like that—I’m usually much more put together. And as for why I’m helping you…” Something in his bearing shifts, changes from the casual front he was putting on to something much more serious. “That’s your mother that Hades is holding, isn’t it?”
Percy flinches. “What do you know about my mom? Is she okay? She’s not…”
“She’s perfectly fine.” Zagreus says in an unexpectedly reassuring tone. “I promise. She’s not a shade, she’s just being held in stasis.”
Relief flows through him, but… “What does that have to do with why you’re helping us, though?” He’s reminded of the saying Annabeth told him after he received the pearls from Poseidon: never trust a free lunch.
Zagreus meets his eyes. “I know a thing or two about going on an impossible quest to find one’s mother, son of Poseidon.”

What if Zagreus emerged from the Styx in the middle of Percy's confrontation with Hades in the Lightning Thief?

She cuts the Titan down, and as her enemy dissolves into sand, Melinoe flickers across the Prince’s old bedroom, hauls the frozen body of Zagreus over her shoulders, and steps into the familiar dark. She does not cry from relief. This is not an emotional task. As the dusky cold of shadows closes over her, Melinoe only allows herself a single moment of surprise: Her brother’s hands are not the soft hands of a prince.
They are callused. Like her own.

He could have been anyone else. He’s not even sure how he got here, or when it started—the rubble crashing down on him or childbirth, he can’t tell. It’s not like “remembering your past life” came with a guidebook, or, hell, even a brochure. He’d have liked a brochure.
If there was a Death or a God out there, it had a sense of humor, putting him once again into an orphan with barely anything to his name. Not even a ditzy grandmother to take care of him.
