Halfway through his trek back, however, he notices his brother, his back turned to him, but Ford would recognize him anywhere, “Stanley!” he called out.
Stan didn’t respond.
Ford raised an eyebrow as he got closer, “Stanley? Is everything alr-” before he could get all the words out Ford sees what Stan is staring at, it was a store selling formal wear, and from what Ford could gather from the signs on the display window it specialized in wedding attire specifically, the long display widow showcasing mannequins dressed in many different styles of Thai wedding attire, but Ford noted Stan was staring at two mannequins in particular, ones dressed in a more western style suit and gown.
Ford can’t see Stan’s face, but he knows his brother's body language well enough that he surmises Stan’s expression is likely not a happy one...

“You left me behind, you jerk! It was supposed to be us forever, you ruined my life!!” Stan shouts.
“You ruined your own life!!”
Using all his strength, Ford kicks Stan square in the gut, pushing him straight into a hot part of one of the control panels for the portal, Stan screams bloody murder as the panel sears into his back.
“Stanley!?” Ford rushes to his feet, watching as his brother falls onto his side, his voice filled with concern and guilt, “Oh my gosh!! I'm so sorry!! Are you alright?!”
Stan doesn’t respond, the only thing he can seem to manage are gasps of agony as he holds onto his shoulder, Ford falls to his knees in front of him, his tired eyes widening as he sees the fresh burn, the charred flesh was a mix of white and pink, blood protruding all over, the smell of raw, foul meat hit Ford like a truck, he could even faintly hear it sizzling.

Arrested for petty crime, Stan expects to go on trial and end up in prison. It wouldn’t be the first time. He knows how it goes.
What he does not expect is for people to start treating him weirdly after one of his fuzzy-brain episodes. He does not expect to be acquitted on account of being deemed mentally incapable. He does not expect the court to rule he be placed under adult guardianship.
And he definitely does not expect when it’s his estranged twin brother who shows up as his new guardian.

The man leaned in, acting way too familiar for Stan’s liking. His head was half poked into the car, mere inches from Stan’s face, and he looked concerned. Not angry, not annoyed, just… concerned. Vaguely, Stan realized the man had a flashlight, illuminating his face and the inside of the car just enough to be seen properly.
“Are you alright?” he asked Stan.
Stan blinked, then mumbled “Uh, yeah, sorry, I’ll move.”
