It had started, like so many things in the last two years, with the pandemic. A COVID scare at the 118 had Hen and Chimney bunking in the loft’s downstairs living room, leaving Buck and Eddie to share the bed upstairs.
Buck and Eddie. Two straight guys who absolutely had no problem with sharing a bed. There used to be a pillow between them, but weeks passed and they decided it was no longer necessary. As Buck said—they were two straight guys. This wasn’t the first time Buck had to sleep in close quarters with another guy, so it shouldn’t be a big deal, right?
Except, it kinda was.
After months of celibacy, Buck was pent up and Eddie just wanted to be a good friend. Besides, it's not gay if it's just the tip.

Three days ago, Ravi made a joke about Tommy trying to woo Eddie.
Two days ago, he’d asked Eddie about it and they’d come to the conclusion that he was hoping to date Eddie. “I don’t know Buck, I really think you could do better.” Eddie had said.
Yesterday, Buck confronted Tommy and the man had made light of the entire thing. Saying quote; “You were a cute backup”. Resulting in his dumping.
That night Buck got wasted on Eddie's couch and Eddie got wasted in solidarity.
This morning Buck woke up naked in Eddie's bed.

The 118 finally learn why Buck is the way he is. Their theory of a cult or a conversion camp was way off. Somehow, though, the reality of being a demi-god isn’t much better.
Buck thought they’d be happier to learn he wasn’t part of a cult.

The thing is, now that he’s accepted being romantically inclined towards Buck, he’s pretty sure he sees Buck’s reciprocated feelings everywhere. It feels more like a matter of when rather than if. Like Buck’s a sure thing.
On the evening of Buck’s speed dating event, he comes out of their bedroom asking for help picking between two jackets, and Eddie simply says, “you don’t need to go to that.”
“Huh?” Buck’s eyebrows shoot up, framed by that blushed red birthmark.
Eddie shrugs, leaning back on the couch and kicking his feet up. “Go waste time if you want, but you really don’t need to.”

"When Buck tried to rub his wrist against Eddie’s to transfer his scent and got stopped by the patches that covered both of their glands, he let out a deep grumble of frustration that had Eddie tensing up - not because he was scared or threatened, but because of how much he wanted Buck’s scent on him, how much he enjoyed the fact that his best friend wanted them to smell like each other.
The way his body also lit up at the frustrated growl was something he shoved down until it would never see the light of day again.
Not that it was anything wrong, of course. They were best friends, their work and home lives entwined firmly, and they were kind of raising a kid together. It was totally platonic. Just friends, sharing scent, nothing crazy about that. It’s completely normal to get a little shivery at your friend’s voice, everybody in the world knows that."

Summary
Buck blows a breath out of his nose, ears flicking, and Eddie pounces the moment those baby blue eyes haloed with red skirt away from him—it’s no more than a second, maybe two, but it gives Eddie the in he needs.
Eddie covers the distance between them in a blink, nails scoring claw marks in the dirt. He launches himself forward, body shoving into Buck’s, and his arms coming around the blond, hooking his claws into flesh, and listening to the startled, half-choked yelp Buck lets out as Eddie brings them to the ground. Buck’s back hits the ground, crushing Eddie’s knuckles into the earth, but he doesn’t care.
Instead, he opens his jaw wide and tries to go for the throat. It’s a dirty move—Eddie doesn’t want to paint this territory red, but if he must, he will—but Eddie must do what he needs to do to get this territory.
