Awsten likes to think he lives his life with no regrets. It’s not like he’s regretting taking Elijah up on his offer to record a song together, because he’s not, it’s just that he wishes the avalanche of Bad Things that it caused didn’t happen. He wishes he could have held it all together somehow, miraculously.

Aziraphale tells Crowley about love, in so many beautiful words, phrases, entire stories. Aziraphale holds him close through sleepless nights, his aura soothing Crowley’s senses.
Crowley can’t deal with affection spelled out so explicitly, in gorgeous ways he can’t possibly match, so he stays silent, looking Aziraphale deep in the eyes, sometimes through his eyes right into his soul, painted in delicate hues of white and pink and blue.

For six thousand years, Aziraphale did his best to exist within the strictures of Heavenly conduct. It wasn’t a perfect practice; his relationship with Crowley, just for example, was never exactly what one might call “officially sanctioned,” or even, “particularly wise,” but the important thing was that Aziraphale tried. He wasn’t a very good angel, but he did his best, more or less. Wasn’t that all anyone could really ask of him?
It doesn’t really feel fair, is the point, that in reward for saving the world, Aziraphale seems to be having something of an existential crisis.
