“I don’t skate,” Jax said with a purposeful air of indifference. “It’s unbefitting of my masculine persona.”
Pomni snorted.
“Don’t or can’t?”
“Third option: won’t!”
He punctuated his sentence with a light flick to the jester's forehead.
“Alright.”
She sighed dramatically, throwing her hands, and the skates, in the air in defeat. She started skating towards the rink entrance and called back towards the booth.
“I guess I’ll just go skate with Ragatha and Kinger then, have fun moping!”
Jax’s ear twitched in annoyance. Before his brain could catch up with him, he’d already bolted out of his seat and snatched the roller skates from Pomni’s raised hand.
“Fine! If you insist.”

With each new adventure, he'd find an excuse to touch you. Whether it was grazing hands, nudging your shoulder, or grabbing you (to throw you at times, mind)— he found a way.
Most of all, however, it was his hand at your side that remained consistent.
He never directly alluded to it. Never once did he make it clear that it was intentional. You knew it was— you weren't stupid. But it sure as hell made you second guess his intentions.
Jax likes to casually engage in physical touch with you.

The circus was quiet. Everyone was in their rooms, likely sleeping. Caine, being an AI, never felt the need to do any of those human things, so he spent his free time either planning adventures or floating around the vast tent.
Pounding in the distance caught his attention, however. It sounded like it was coming from below the floor, but the only thing down there was the cellar. Was something going on down there?

In this better lighting, Pomni could really see how shitty Jax looked. His ears hung low at either side of his head, making him look almost pathetic, paired with his glassy, baggy eyes and hunched posture. Despite looking so anxious, Jax made himself at home by sitting on the edge of Pomni's bed, arms folded on his knees and leg bouncing slightly. Pomni followed suit, perching next to him (but still leaving a healthy amount of space).
The silence stretched for a moment.
"So?"
Pomni tries to talk to Jax after noticing how weird he's acting at the Awards Ceremony. Jax... tries his best.

Summary
Giving Jax what he wanted wasn't satisfying.
Ever.
He always pushed the limits. Always took things one step too far. Whenever something went Jax's way, that wasn't good. If anything, that was a worst case scenario with a rabbit avatar at the scene of the crime to cement it.
Pomni, evidently, didn't want to give Jax what he thought he wanted.

In a world where Jax was essentially some crooked ringmaster's doll, it was nice to have a doll of his own to "play" with. He shows up into Pomni's room, dominates her, and then he leaves. There's nothing more to it, so why does he feel frazzled when Pomni winds up choosing that crocodile NPC over him during an adventure? Jax doesn't know, but what he does know is that he's determined to lay down some consequences for her by the end of it.
