Lena stares at her, looks into her eyes, and just sees the confusion. Kara looks so lost, and Lena feels horrible for causing that, but now she just wants answers.

“You don’t deserve to be free,” the man says through his teeth, “you killed all those people.”
Danny frowns. “Hey man, back off.”
The man looks at Danny as if he were crazy. “You know what she is. She’s a murderer.”

For a second, she feels guiltless. She can feel her own atonement.

She opens Tara’s door. She smiles, seeing the young girl asleep on her bed. She is curled up, her arms wrapped around a stuffed rabbit. Her mouth makes a whistling sound as she dreams. Sidney leans against the door frame, hoping that she is having good dreams. She wants the young girl to find happiness in her life. She closes the door as quietly as she can and looks to the next door.
Light shines through the bottom of Sam’s door. Sidney lets out a small sigh. She knows that Sam has been struggling. With trusting her. And dealing with what her mother did to her. Sidney can only guess the pain Sam is in, her own mother trying to kill her for something that isn’t her fault.

Summary
Kara Zor-El, or Kara Kent as she's known on Earth, was scared. She was scared, anxious, depressed, and trying her best to forget her past by any means necessary. Clark didn't know how to help her anymore; he had exhausted all his options already. And that gutted him.
For over ten years, ever since Kara’s ship crashed to Earth, Clark has devoted his life to protecting and taking care of his cousin, treating her like his own daughter because that's what she deserves. But he doesn't think he's been doing a very good job. Clark had the privilege of grieving a life he never had; he was just a baby when he was sent away from Krypton. Kara didn't have that privilege. She was ten years old when their planet was destroying itself. She went to school, had friends, remembered her parents, and knew about Kryptonian culture firsthand instead of through the crystals Clark inherited when he crashed. She was grieving the life she lost.
(My crack-fic idea of Clark raising Kara as his daughter and a bit of the relationship background from the one scene we saw in the Superman 2025 movie.)
(Title is from the song "My Little Girl" By Tim McGraw. Feels fitting, I think.)

Summary
Senior year, winter break, impacted wisdom teeth. The pain is nothing on breaking her spine, but her teeth will be removed all the same. Part of wisdom teeth removal oral surgery is the patient being under some sort of anesthesia. This surgery is simply an annoyance compared to getting metal rods in her back, so she won't have to undergo IV anesthesia. Hopefully she won't get messed up by the general anesthesia.
