Adrien whirled around toward Marinette. She smiled at him.
He couldn’t smile back. He stared at her like the dumb blond model that he was often accused of being.
Something shifted in her expression. And her warm open Marinette smile transformed into Ladybug’s grin. He was looking at Ladybug right now.
He knew Ladybug’s name!
Her name was Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
And he couldn’t say anything! Not to Marinette! Not even to Plagg, who had confided two weeks prior that Master Fu was growing increasingly paranoid since the location of his home and hideout had been compromised. Their master had apparently decided that Chat Noir and Ladybug would have to give up their miraculouses if they ever discovered each other’s identities.

Following the events of “Ladybug”, Adrien finds himself in a self-imposed hell as he tries to keep up with a deal he’s made to protect one of his best friends.
It’s driving him away from his friends and slowly driving him to the brink of a breakdown, when someone steps in to pull him back from the proverbial edge. Now he has an ally - the very person he’d been trying to protect from the start.
But when Adrien slips-up, Lila goes off the deep end and threatens him with an ultimatum. Make things official with her and cut ties with Marinette or their deal is off.
Except, this time, Adrien’s afraid that lies aren’t going to be the only thing he’ll have to protect Marinette from if he refuses.

They can't leave the city, and no matter how hard they try it will be impossible to keep their hero and civilian lives completely separate.
They love each other, they can't deny that, but marriage at eighteen just feels a bit too rushed for them. Revealing who they are behind the mask will also change everything. So the fact that it may be their only option isn't a comfort. With their partner by their side though, they're ready to face whatever the world throws at them.
