Summary
After Windrixville, Ponyboy Curtis tells himself he’s fine.
He goes to school. He runs track. He keeps his head down and his mouth shut and pretends the darkness sitting in his chest isn’t getting heavier by the day. He doesn’t talk about the nightmares, or the smoke that still burns his lungs, or the way grief sneaks up on him when he least expects it.
He definitely doesn’t talk about getting sick.
But four days of cold rain, too much running, and one very human breaking point force Ponyboy to confront something he’s been avoiding since the fire: he doesn’t have to handle everything alone and maybe he never did.

“Harry whimpers softly from his perch in Regulus’s arms. His wild dark hair is sweat damp against his forehead and he’s sleep-warm in a pair of cotton footsie pyjamas.
Regulus leans his head down, brushing his lips against Harry’s head. Brown curls mix with his baby’s hair. Harry whimpers again and he twists his face into the curve of the man’s neck.
James is cuddled close to Reglus. His chin is tucked over his boyfriend’s shoulder, watching over Harry. His face softens impossibly when Harry presses his face further into Regulus. Reaching down he smooths the hair on the back of his son’s head down: “shhh, love. Shhh. Oh I know it hurts.”

“If I could be anywhere in the world,” Nico murmurs, Will twitching as Nico’s lips tickle his sensitive skin, “free of constraints or titles or boundaries, I would be here.” He traces a finger down Will’s calf, and this time he makes a sound as he shudders, low and deep and blissful, eyes half-lidded. “Touching you. Holding you. Watching you, in awe of you.” He drags his lips up to the base of Will’s shin, kissing the smattering of freckles there, and follows their discordant pattern up the strong, lithe swell of his calf, across the raised scar on the side of his leg, lingering on the side of his knee. “Worshiping you, my beloved, in your beauty.”
“Flatterer,” Will gasps. His hands slide themselves into Nico’s hair, as they so often do, tightening around the only locks, looping curls around his fingers like black iron rings. “You just want into my bed.”
Nico grins against his skin. “I am in your bed already.”
