She was studying his face carefully, her arms wrapped around his neck, anticipating a response. She smelled of flowers, of fresh air. She was warm and there and gods, he was so incredibly in love with her. Especially now.
“That is the best news I’ve ever heard,” he said softly before kissing her.

Not for the first time, she let the idea of the world around her moving on while she sat rooted to the corner of her couch take shape in her mind.
