Summary
A year has passed since Shuri made the bittersweet decision to leave Wakanda. While she's saved her people and the world from destruction, she can not help but feel she's abandoning the only home she's ever known. But without her mother and brother, Wakanda has no place for her, so Shuri settles in Haiti with Nakia and her nephew.
The days slowly tick by, but Shuri finds inner peace in the slowness that is this strange, outside world with new surprises every day. She could make a life for herself here. But deep down, Shuri can not help but feel as if He is always there, watching for her.
One fateful day, Okoye arrives, spinning tales of a Wakanda on the brink of civil war. Some accept the rule of the new king. Others desire to follow the Old Ways. Summary
This takes place further into the timeline of Because the Night, after "C'mon Baby." That MAY be the final fic needed to catch up? Depends on how far that one goes...
And I may ultimately slot this fic into a different order, around some others...
But I am posting this NOW, to help give me some motivation to push past a perceived mental block and keep going. After having edited it a little, from its original form, to account for Michael's general acceptance of David having somewhat of "a thing" with the other guys, as per the rest of the series thus far.
Michael and Star are full-vampires. More on that, to follow, either toward the end of "C'mon Baby" or something right after.
As a profoundly powerful telepath, David also has the ability to dreamwalk. And he uses it to sporadically check on his pack mates. Or, in Marko's case, to cut loose a little.

Summary
It was in what was said and what was implied. It was in his recklessness and anger. Michael was wounded. David recognized it from the moment they met. For someone as beautiful as Micahel, this was unacceptable. A crime. One that required the kind of justice David could offer. At least, that's what David decided the second Michael's fist collided with his lip. With that simple act of defiance, that show of strength, and dangerous bravery, David was smitten.
(Mostly a character study from David's pov that hints at his past, his thought process, and his affection for his entire polycue)
