During WW2, Howard Stark made a gas called Midnight Oil (as mentioned in Agent Carter). It’s a gas that, when exposed, someone becomes extremely violent and psychotic.
Aka: In 1944, after ending up in some trouble, the Howling Commandos have to go get Howard from an allied base.
In 2015, Steve comes across a canister of Midnight Oil in Tony’s lab while going through some of Howard’s stuff. And he gets exposed.
