Summary
When Shanks and his crew first arrive at the quiet little fishing village where Vice Admiral Garp is rumored to spend his vacation time, there’s a kid on the dock who waves so enthusiastically at their incoming ship that he slips off the damp boards and topples into the water. Instantly, two smaller kids (who definitely weren’t waving) yelp and jump after him, grabbing the flailing kid’s arms in an effort to drag him towards dry land.
It’s funny, but not so funny Shanks doesn’t feel kinda bad, so he leaps down to help.
Which is how he meets nine year old Monkey D. Luffy, and his adopted six year old brothers, Ace and Sabo.

"Thanks for tucking me in. I feel as snug as a bug in a rug.”
Huh? None of that made any sense. “Is being bug good or bad?!” I stomp twice in question.
Grace laughs. “Sorry sorry. Right now, it’s good. It’s just a bit strange. Tucking someone in is a bit of a parental action for humans, and normally it’s only done for little kids. I don’t mind. If I’m honest, it’s pretty nice. It feels like you're taking care of me.”
Good Good Good. It means less confusion when my actions mean the same thing for Eridians as it does for Humans. “Correct! Rocky always take care of Grace. Always always always.”

Some of the kids called it a “forever family,” and they spoke about it in hushed, excited tones. A family meant you would have a mama and papa, and sometimes brothers or sisters, usually older ones. Maybe even grandmas and grandpas. It meant you could live in a house and have your own room, or share it with just one other kid instead of ten all crammed together. It meant you got gifts on your birthday and Christmas. It meant you got new clothes and toys all to yourself.
