"Tell me what you want, Tyler. Whatever it is, you know without a doubt that you can tell me, and there won't be any judgement." He says it like a suggestion, but it's true. It will always be the truth.
"I wanna... wanna let you take control. Sex," he puts it bluntly.
Carlos can't help the small chuckle that leaves his lips. "You want sex, baby? You're sure?" It's not an unusual request. He'd do anything to distract TK from his pain, including fucking him so hard into the mattress that he can't sit right for days.
TK nods. "You take control," he says again. "With your... suggestions. Play with me." He sighs, like he's much more content now that that's in the air. "Make me feel good. Tease me. Please."
"Hypno sex, huh?" Carlos leans down, brushing his lips over TK's. "Oh baby, you never have to beg for that. I'll take care of you."
In which TK and Carlos have hypnosis-enhanced sex.

"Was this a mistake? Am I—am I only making things worse?"
He doesn't ask Can I do this? because he doesn't know what he'll do if the answer is no.
"No. No, Carlos, don't think that for a second." TK says it with so much force that he leaves no room for argument. "This is new, but it's only the first night. Jonah needs us."
Carlos pulls away, hating himself for it. He can't look at TK when he says, "He needs you. He needs to be surrounded by wolves, a—a pack, or something. Not a human who's stumbling in the dark for the right answers." He shuts his eyes tightly. He doesn't want to cry, because TK is right: it's only the first night. What will it say about him if he's reduced to tears on the first night?

Summary
Up ahead, a logging truck turns onto the highway. It's going quite a bit slower than the rest of the cars, but is accelerating to catch up. Carlos slows down to accommodate it, and that's when the guy behind him lays on the horn.
There's a split second where Carlos gets nervous—an irrational fear from watching the second Final Destination movie with their friends a few days ago. He reminds himself that it's just a movie. It's still daylight out, the roads aren't slick with rain or ice—these are ideal driving conditions. He's never so much as scratched the paint on any car he's owned. It's fine.
Just a dumb movie.

Summary
He watches as she sets the IV to high flow, something he's only seen TK do a few times while they were in the field together. "This won't make him come."
"Oh, yes it will," she counters. "Computer, start a broadcast on all local television frequencies."
"Starting broadcast…"
"The drug trials have only ended in one of two ways," she tells him, a sinister grin on her face. "Either you manifest some kind of enhanced ability, or your body overloads from the change and you die. I imagine neither of you wants to take that risk." She turns to the screen, which displays their mirror image in the recording. "The clock is ticking. If the Blizzard has a conscience, he'll have to come here and try to stop me."
For the sake of humanity, Carlos really hopes the Blizzard is selfish.

Summary
Sir Carlos Reyes is at a rocky point in his life—engaged to be married to a woman he can't love, living in a house with a family that has never felt more distant. A several-months-long quest from the king is exactly what he needs to sort out his head and get used to the fact that his life isn't turning out how he wants. If it means babysitting a spoiled prince, then Carlos will just have to deal with that.
Prince TK is at a loss. After suffering an accident at his own hands that has severely weakened his magic, the only thing he desires is to be left alone. Unfortunately, his father is dragging him across the kingdom on a goodwill tour. To top it all off, he's been assigned a personal guard who is insanely hot and infuriatingly annoying.
Maybe what they both need is right in front of them.
Oh, and there's also something coming after magical creatures. Surely that won't come up on the journey, though.

TK kneels at his side, but Carlos can't bear to look at him. Not when it feels like he's crawling out of his skin. "Baby," TK says, "tell me what's wrong?"
Carlos shakes his head. "It's not right. Tyler, it's not me."
TK tries to pull Carlos' hands away from where they're now scratching up and down his neck. It makes him want to scream. Carlos pulls away and backs up to the other side of the mattress. "No!" he shouts. "Don't touch me! Don't touch me, please."

A few weeks after getting attacked by hunters, TK and Carlos are in recovery, but something's wrong. Carlos isn't as fine as he thinks he is.

Summary
He gets the call while he's at work, because of course he does. Of course the universe decides that something terrible is going to happen in the middle of a shift.
Well, fuck the universe. That's TK's philosophy.
He shows up to the trauma center, fully dressed in his uniform. TK knows he looks a little crazy, but he doesn't care. He can't stop replaying the phone call in his head.
"Hello?"
"Is this TK Strand?"
Dread fills his stomach. "Yes."
"This is Officer Garcia with Texas Border Patrol. Ranger Reyes asked me to call and let you know he's been shot—" and TK's knees nearly crumble right then and there— "and to tell you he's being airlifted to St. David's."

The thugs were smarter than they'd given them credit for, though. Had a whole ambush planned and waiting for him and Campbell the second they walked in. Now, here they are, surrounded and probably minutes away from being discovered, with Carlos bleeding out from a stray bullet caught in the initial fray and his partner displaying more worry on his face than he probably means to show.

He flicks through the folder, though he purposefully tilts it so that TK can't see what's inside. After a few seconds, Carlos pulls out a printed photo. It's got writing on the back that's partially covered by Carlos' hand, but TK can make out the number five scrawled in sharpie. Carlos looks at him and hesitates before flipping the photo for TK to see. "I need you to remember that you're safe here, alright?" he says.
Safe? TK thinks. It didn't exactly occur to him to question that, but then he looks down at the photo in Carlos' hands and gasps. The picture is of him in what is clearly their apartment building's lobby. He's waiting on the elevator with a grocery bag in one hand and a bouquet of flowers in the other, completely oblivious to the fact that he's being photographed.

A few months into their marriage, life throws TK and Carlos a curveball in the form of a stalker. Carlos decides to do the only thing he knows how to: he's going to protect his husband, no matter what it takes.

Enrique doesn't move, but he does take on a pleading look in his eye. "You don't understand. He's been lying to you, Carlos."
TK whimpers from the chains rubbing against his skin as more weight is put on his back. His head is bleeding sluggishly from a gash on his temple. The sight makes Carlos' grip tighten.
"He's not what you think he is. He's one of them."
"Get up," he repeats. He takes a step forward, the barrel of the shotgun aimed at Enrique's head.
"I know this is hard to process—"
"I said, get up," Carlos says, cocking the gun in a practiced motion. "Get off of him before I shoot you."
"Carlos, you don't understand. He's—"
"I know what he is." His gaze flicks to TK's for a split second, and it hardens his resolve. "He's my husband."

"It's been a week since the verdict." He stares straight ahead, his eyes fixed somewhere beyond the windshield.
TK pauses the motion of putting the car in reverse. "It has been," he affirms, tone purposefully mild. He wants to see where Carlos is going with this without pushing him in any specific direction.
"I want a normal life," Carlos says. "I know that's what I want, and even if that's not possible anymore, I'll still want it."
"Of course, baby. That's completely normal—"
He turns to face him. "But do I deserve it, TK?"

He chews on his lower lip. "Westpark, I think? But I don't... no one really told me."

He should have been smarter, or maybe a little more scared. It was Carlos' hubris that got them into this situation in the first place, thinking he could take on intruders with nothing but the threat of his gun and de-escalation training.
"That's the job," a voice that sounds suspiciously like his father rings in the back of his mind. "You make split-second decisions and learn to live with the consequences."
"Whose consequences?" he shoots bitterly back at a man who's not even here with him. Gabriel doesn't respond.
