Pope could almost laugh, if he had the energy to find anything funny right now.
Because I don’t want a life without you, he doesn’t say. How could I breathe if you weren’t there? How could I ever sleep again if those cops had killed you? How could you think I even had a choice?
Instead, Pope sighs, keeping his eyes resolutely pointed forward. “What would you have done, JJ?” He asks, as if he doesn’t already know the answer.

The holiday season was always difficult for JJ. Not just for the obvious reasons, like having an unstable family life when that’s what the holiday season was known for: family. Though, that wasn’t as much of an issue anymore, because the Pogues were his family now.
But the holiday season also highlighted the fact that the one thing he wanted the most was something that not even Santa could give him.

He tilted his head and craned so he could run his finger down all the purple splotches. He snorted when he realized most of them were evenly spaced from each other. Maybe Pope had it more under control than he had thought he did last night. No matter if he did, the blotches went all the way to his collarbones and he wondered if wearing a scarf in June would raise too many questions.

Jisung can see every imperfection, every slight scar, every bump on his skin. He has to fight the urge to reach out and touch, because there is no way in hell Minho is interested. “Minho and I were recruited for a romance drama,” Jisung blurts out. “Like, romance between us. Our characters, obviously,” he's quick to add, suddenly feeling like he needs to justify it.
Chan and Changbin exchange a look that Jisung can’t decrypt.
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay?” Chan asks. His voice is unnaturally gentle, like he’s soothing a crying toddler or breaking bad news to a friend.
Jisung isn’t sure. “Of course. Why wouldn’t I be?”
Chan pauses, uncertainty momentarily clouding his features. “Never mind, yeah? It’s nothing.”
His words belie the concern of his tone. He can’t think acting with Minho will change the nature of their relationship, can he? It’s not unheard of — co-stars falling in love — but Jisung is straight. Everybody knows that.
Jisung knows he and Minho are a pair. Coworkers, best friends... Soulmates, if you will. He just didn't think anyone would seek them out because of it.

Minho watched Jisung take a bite of his food. Minho loved every tiny detail about Jisung. His big, round eyes, his nose that’s slightly curved, his chubby cheeks that fill up even when he takes the smallest bite of food, his gummy smile in the shape of a heart. The way he took a sip of his juice after a bite of his food to make it easier to chew.
They couldn’t imagine life without the other, and they didn’t want to. Jisung thinks that he would probably die if Minho left him somehow, like how a swan dies after losing a loved one– but Minho always reassured him that he would never leave, and Jisung knew that Minho would never lie to him.
(Or, Minho gets lung cancer and eventually passes. Jisung can't handle it.)
