Palms on his forearms made it hard to think, the way they kept sliding down to his hands as if drawn there. “I’m not, I just–“ He took a breath, took Dream’s hands in his. “It’s a thank you.”
“Oh.” And Dream looked so pleased, a secret smile threatening the corners of his lips. “Well, you’re welcome.”
George gets terribly sick, and he feels like death, and maybe it’s time he learns that it’s okay to accept help. Especially when it’s from the two people he loves most in the world.

“I wanted to hang out. Why are you crying?” Sapnap bustled past him to shut George’s bedroom door, pushing it closed with a soft click. George rolled his eyes, turning to watch him.
“I’m not crying.” He sniffled immediately afterward, ruining his poor defense, and Sapnap threw him an exasperated look. “Shut up.”
“Why. Are. You. Crying?” With every word, Sapnap paused to take a step closer until he was right in George’s face, leaning in so that their noses were nearly touching. George flinched back and Sapnap pouted at him. “Do I have to kick someone’s ass for you?”
“Unless you want to fight my English teacher, no.” George sighed, pushing Sapnap with one hand against his chest. “I’m just annoyed at my essay, it’s… it’s fine.”
Just the thought of getting back to work made George want to curl up in bed and pass out, maybe in tears, but that was fine. It was whatever. From the furrow of Sapnap’s brow, he disagreed, but it was fine.

George never used to struggle with school. As such, he didn't have any real coping mechanisms for when he was tearing his hair out over an essay. That was what Sapnap was for.

he swallowed down a wince as sapnap pressed harder around his body before softening again. "i'll–"

Guides, if they pursued a romantic relationship, always paired off with other Guides. Soulmates always paired off with their Soulmate. It was just how it was done and George ignored the small flicker of hope in his chest at Karl wanting to ignore those rules.
George had Dream. George had his Soulmate.
“I… don’t know,” George replied after a long silence, whispering to match Karl’s volume. He rolled onto his side and Karl reached out instinctively to take his hands, locking their fingers together. George ignored how perfect it felt.

After moving to America, George found it hard to find the energy for anything besides surviving. Eating, sleeping, working, monotony and nothing else. Even his beloved camera was gathering dust. Then, in a twist of fate, he nearly got run over by a skateboarder that sparked a passion for life in him again.

Oh God, Sapnap was so attractive. He couldn’t explain why the feeling hit so suddenly, like someone swinging a chair at the back of his head, but in an instant his cheeks were warm and his chest felt tight and he felt much creepier for following Sapnap to the skatepark.
“If you want, you can hang out with us next time we skate. Punz would probably be a better photo subject than me, I didn’t bring my good board today so I’m afraid to do much.” Sapnap was still talking, completely missing the waves of realization washing over George. “My grip tape is super worn down on this one and the board is old, I could probably snap it if I stomped it hard enough.”
“That’d be kinda-” George clapped a hand over his mouth before he could finish the thought but Sapnap clearly got the picture from the startled laugh he let out.
