Renfield sits among the piles of bodies that were once his friends, clinging desperately to Mark’s hand as Dracula mutters Into his ear. Cruel words that flood his mind and make him sob. He did betray his Master. Though his head shakes In response to Dracula’s words, he knows they’re all true.
Blood sticks to his palm and Renfield feels as though he drained It from Mark himself. He can’t bring himself to look anywhere else but the horrible wound on the man’s neck, the blood pooling below him. He did this. He brought Dracula to them.

As he looks up towards the house, he Is briefly distracted by the beauty of the landscape around him. He almost forgets how cold he Is when he sees the way the snow glows under the light of the sun, almost blinding as It sparkles and glimmers.
It melts In the light, bending to the will of Its faint warmth and changing to be just how the sun wants It.
He tries to reach for the light, gazing up Into the blinding sky and begging for the sun to touch him how It touches the snow, trembling as he struggles to support his own weight, lifting one hand Into the sky. His palm closes around the giant ball, but It doesn’t reach for him, remaining In Its place despite his silent pleas.

His body Is hunched over to make himself even smaller than he already appears, sinking lower and lower before his God. He feels his back ache In protest, but he’d rather have a broken spine than face Dracula’s wrath. He can’t blink, can’t move. His head Is bowed In still silence as he waits.
“Tell me, Renfield, how can I recover from our last ambush without the food that I so desperately require to heal my body? Hm? How can I return to full power when you haven’t brought me my meals?”
Renfield swallows, anxiety bubbling In his chest and threatening to spill from his throat, his heart thumps In his chest and he watches Dracula’s cold expression fix on him.
