The trip is during spring break—a four day long trek out into the wilderness, camping and hiking and gathering who even knows what, learning all about nature and the great outdoors.
But the real kicker?
It's an event specifically designed for fathers and their sons, which is something Peter doesn't have, and something he will never be.

Derek went stone-cold rigid at the provocation, his Wolf clawing at him, snapping just below the surface of his skin, itching to be released, longing to show this boy—his boy—exactly where he belonged.
“Because, silly me, I thought you were supposed to be something scary,” Stiles continued, “Something cold and deadly—violent and dreadful and feared.” A huff of laughter leapt off his sharp-wit tongue; and a smirk danced shrill and cunning through the flow of his sultry voice. “Hell baby, I thought you were supposed to be a fuckin’ Wolf.”
And that was it.
That was the end of Derek’s self-control.

“We have, Your Honor,” the woman solemnly replied, handing over the envelope to the court clerk.
Spencer watched every movement in a sort of hazy slow motion: the clerk walking toward the bench....the judge taking the envelope....opening it....pulling out the slip of paper nestled within....silently reading it....returning it....handing it back over. It all seemed so dramatic and drawn out, taking much longer than it should; and he felt his body fidgeting throughout the entire exchange, his nails now digging deep into the soft flesh of Aaron’s hand in an attempt to calm his nerves.
This was it.
It's been nearly a year since that painful morning when he'd called Hotch, asking his boss for help after waking up in a pool of his own blood; and now that the trial is over and the jury has deliberated, Spencer Reid will finally learn the fate of Parker Simmons, the man who brutally attacked him, raped him, and tried to break him.
