The Analog Wars tore through California, and as it had advanced it left behind a vast, lifeless, desert with a shining city at its core. Better Living Industries, the people who governed Battery City, had promised a carefree life. One where the wastelands left in the wake of the wars were a distant memory, lost to time and history. All you had to do was take the pills, and keep smiling.
Tommy lost everyone to B.L.I. His identity stolen. Who was he? The child of B.L.Ind.? Or the man who had saved him all those years ago. The one he wished he hadn’t failed. The one that helped him become the person he is. The person he was.
Lullah is struggling to survive. Her father never came home. Her care was placed in the hands of someone she knows cannot be trusted. She needs to find her father.

Summary
It must really say something about Robert, that the only person to ever really love him ended up being a monster. He's been on his own since the day his dad shot his father, the Mecha Man mantle being all he had left from either of them. Then his dad breaks out of jail and blows him up, leaving him with a lost leg and suit he's never going to get back up.
But SDN promised they could rebuild it. All he had to do was play dispatcher for a group of reformed villains. He could be Mecha Man again---but his father shows all up in his business, ready to snatch it all away again.

If his son wanted to play this game then Shroud will play. His son will be right by his side, safe as he always should have been. He failed to protect his son from Mecha Man once, he will not fail again.
