Why Don't People Understand
My Intentions?Basically just a retelling of Re-Animator with a female reader as the third roommate who inevitably falls in love with Herbert West. The Reader, Herbert and Dan attempt to cheat death via Herbert's reagent with disastrous results, chaos ensues and the body count rises. Of course, further complications arise as Herbert and the Reader's relationship progresses from friends to something more.
This story uses female-specific pronouns as well as cis-female descriptions of body parts during the sex scenes. If anyone wishes to rewrite those elements of the story in order to fit with their own body and gender identity, that's totally fine with me as long as you give me a heads up and credit me in the resulting work.

Summary
Evie Graves is a You tuber who, along with Toby, a medium, investigates haunted locations. After acquiring a tape on the dark web said to contain a recording of the sound of the Resonator, they decide to study the scene of the experiments and try to contact the spirit of Crawford, who is believed to be dead, if the urban legends surrounding the story are true. But Evie is unaware that she will be unleashing something terrible in the process.
While staying at the house, they learn not all the story is true, when Crawford Tilinghast shows up very much alive and tells his own version of the events that took place more than thirty years ago. When Toby realises Evie is attracted to Crawford, hidden, intense jealousy begins to dangerously spiral. Something evil still lurks at the house and Toby, now addicted to the sound of the Resonator, may not be the good friend she thinks he is, as Evie struggles to understand why voices whisper to her in the Pretorius house as her relationship with Crawford grows deeper. What follows will lead to a fight between this world and the unseen forces of the beyond, leading to the answer to a question Crawford has asked himself many times over the years:
