    Photos of Shane and Ilya are posted earlier in their career and everyone is wondering why the two rivals are together after a game. Que the commissioner calling saying that he doesn't care what they're doing but they need to be smart and crush any rumors that could "ruin their careers". Shane, still not comfortable with his sexuality, agrees, and Ilya goes along with it because he cares about Shane and, well Russia.

    The two go on their separate ways not talking outside of chirping on the ice and in interviews. Ilya still transfers to Ottawa because he wants to start new after leaving Russia behind following his father's passing.

    Shane continues to hide himself and is playing hard for Montreal to avoid his problems- to avoid thinking about Ilya. That's until he takes a hit on the ice that changes everything. His career is over and all Shane wants is more time.

    Shane is wallowing in his own pity when Ottawa calls. They want him to help coach the team. The only problem is that's where Ilya Rozanov is and Shane never stopped loving him.

When Gabe's cousin comes to live with him while starting grad school at Sam's university, Dean thinks for sure that all his negative karma's coming to bite him in the ass because Cas clearly has a thing for Sam. No one would ever choose him over Sam. That's just logic.
