Summary
Katara Qillaq is studying to be a healer in the Northern Water Tribe, but she is perhaps not cut out for that life. Thus, the Reverend Mother sends her to the Fire Nation as a governess to Crown Prince Zuko Iwamatsu’s seven children. She finds herself falling in love with the country, with the children…and with their father. But romantic rivals, familial tensions, and a terrible conflict looming on the horizon all threaten to tear them apart.

Katara finds Zuko apathetic and unbearable, and when their paths cross again four years later, her opinion of him does not change. Four years after that, during Katara's junior year of college, she crosses paths with Zuko again only this time she realizes he isn't quite as awful as she remembered.

Summary
The duel between a newly established master waterbender and a Fire Prince the second night during the Siege of the Noth takes an unexpected turn, leading to repercussions that neither of them could have expected. Takes place in an alternate timeline when Aang was frozen at 16 and everyone's aged up by four years, so Katara and Zuko are 18 and 20, respectively.
