Billy had a problem.
A problem that went by the name of Steve Harrington.

Although if he was being honest with himself, Billy could admit that Steve wasn’t really the problem. Billy was.

It had started out innocently. He and Steve had become friends in their first year of college, really good friends. So, when the decision about whether or not they wanted to continue living on campus or in their own digs in their second year came up, it seemed like a no brainer. They should live together; they were practically in each other's pockets as it was.

He was also incredibly tactile, hugging Billy whenever they saw each other after a long day of classes, brushing Billy’s hair away from his face as they talked, or simply placing his hand on Billy’s lower back when he moved past him in the small space of their apartment.

Summary
It seems like Eddie doesn’t want his friendship anymore. Avoids him in the halls and cafeteria, but Steve is nothing if not persistent. He writes a full letter in elvish to slip into Eddie’s locker, but Eddie catches him. Shoves the letter back, unopened, unread, with a harsh whispered, “Don’t you get it Harrington? I don’t want to be your friend. Fuck off.”
Steve and Eddie were best friends who make a promise to learn the elvish alphabet so that they can pass notes without worrying about other people reading them. Things don't work out how they'd planned, but Steve learns Elvish anyway. Just in case.
