The goat Shuri had been petting retaliated to the sudden lack of human contact by nudging against Bucky's legs to request pets from him too.
Bucky sighed, gave the little guy a few pets, before saying a quick goodbye to the goats and following Shuri up the hill.
OR: As Bucky navigates his new life, Shuri helps him with physical therapy. He learns a lot about himself in the process.

It was a nice place, for the price. Nice decor, a large window currently covered by a curtain, and aforementioned pair of beds that looked relatively comfortable.
Which wouldn't be a problem for most people, but he has a little secret that nobody really knows.
He hasn't slept on a real bed since 1933.
He supposes that's not a fun secret. It's not like it's a secret about who he's crushing on, or who he's going to ask out, or anything of the other stuff he and Becca would exchange whispers about in the middle of the night.
But it's a secret all the same, and one he'd rather keep hidden.
OR: After leaving Walker and Lemar behind, Sam and Bucky decide to check into a motel instead of walking in the dark, and the task of sleeping in a bed is not something Bucky is up for. Sam understands.

Whatever. He'll throw a sweater on today to cover the wound from being visible, then he'll sneak into the medbay of the compound tonight, steal some antibiotics, take a few doses, and everything will be fine. No doctors required.
It's what's best. For everyone.
It's what's best for him because then there's no possibility of a panic attack induced by flashbacks of his medical trauma. It's what's best for the medical staff as there's no danger to them in case he gets violent during a flashback.
Everybody will be happy. Everybody will be safe.
That's how he rationalizes his plans for tonight, anyway.
OR: Bucky gets injuried. He doesn't tell anybody or seek medical help because of the medical trauma he has from HYDRA. When he ends up not being able to hide it, Sam and Shuri are by his side to help him through it.

The biggest problem for Bucky is that it's highly likely that he's been to every HYDRA base or outpost in Germany or Russia during his Winter Soldier era. He was afraid of it either digging up bad memories, or bringing all new memories to light.
Neither option was ideal.
OR: A mission brings back memories, which leads to nightmares, which leads to panic attacks. Sam helps.

In that moment, Rishe came up with a plan, one her companions would later laud as ludicrous but effective. Puffing her chest, she reached for his face and cupped his cheeks, pulling him closer so their eyes were level.
“Rishe?!”
“No more of this!” Rishe cried out defiantly. “I refuse to hear any more denigrating statements about you, especially when they come from your mouth! From now on, whenever you say anything even the slightest bit self-deprecating, I will compliment you until you recant it!” She vowed as valiantly as any knight.

There are, Sam has found, a number of things he does enjoy about being Cap. Saving people, sure. The suit, well that thing’s pretty sweet. The hordes of fawning admirers that absolutely do exist, no matter what Bucky says to the contrary? They’re not so bad either.
And there are things he enjoys less. Spending too much time in stuffy rooms around large tables where everyone just talks circles around one another. Living in a world where he has to be a voice for the voiceless, because no one else will be. Wreaking violence on a near-daily basis, because that seems to be the only language some people understand.
And there are things he really cannot stand. Like today. The saving innocent civilians, that’s alright. The doing violence to violent people, he can live with. But the having to sit here, pretending not to care while someone beats up his partner/co-worker/guy with a mutual friend right in front of him? Yeah. He’s over this shit.
