    Summary

"If he wishes to inspect the treasures of this house, he has my leave to do so. Provided he promises to leave my son's wine-cellar alone."

Following a disastrous drinking contest against a Samian elder, a hungover Odysseus and Polites are escorted back to the palace of Ithaca by a weary, thoroughly professional Eurylochus. While the two noblemen nurse a brutal, self-inflicted hangover, a sharp tongued Ctimene arrives to deliver herbal remedies alongside a heavy dose of sibling mockery. But with a splitting headache, the future king of Ithaca's mind never truly sleeps. Noticing the unspoken, years long pining between his sister and his most dependable comrade, Odysseus and a chaotic Polites launch a tactical surprise raid on Same to force the stubborn commander to face the reality of his own heart.

    Summary

“How may I address you, wise and powerful spirit?”

Wise? Powerful? Odysseus was trapped on an island for seven years and then he died. There aren’t a lot of beings less wise and powerful than he is. “There’s no need for any of that,” he sighs. “Just call me…” He bites his lip, remembering the last alias he used, before everything went wrong. “Nobody.”

“Nobody,” the strangely familiar boy repeats, smiling at what he perceives to be a joke. Odysseus wishes he could laugh with him. “Alright. It is good to meet you, Nobody.” He bows, low. “My name is Telemachus.”

Athena, like many gods, had her favorites. Warriors who excelled at battle strategy and techniques. Politicians who excelled at persuading. But those were not her only domains. They brought her glory, yes, but weaving was what brought her joy. So she was very pleased to finally find a young weaver who had the spark she was looking for.

Penelope is also one of Athena's favorite mortals.

    Summary

It was strange how easy it was to slip away while in the arms of a lover. How the thoughts of the impending day seemed to fade into the sound of their joined heartbeats. When it was just the two of them it almost felt like they would wake the next morning to find the world had softened around them, even though Telemachus knew the reality wasn’t so kind.

When Odysseus returns things start to get complicated again. Telemachus worked hard to be heard, yet next to his father his words are nothing more than a whisper. His ideas were childish hopes that could never be fulfilled. The work he put in to bring the kingdom back from poverty were dismantled and rebuilt in the same manner that nearly destroyed it.

He thought having his family together would bring good back into his world. Instead it seemed to make things worse than they were before.

    Summary

“Silence,” goes Diomedes’ gravelly voice — voice tired of this entire affair more than anything else. “Quit this yapping, Odysseus. I’ve had enough of it.”
    “Just, please…”
    “What did I—?!”
“… Don’t touch the Palladium with your bare hands. And don’t look at it if it’s not covered. I’m begging you, Diomedes.”
After a brief pause, Diomedes nods. “I’ll think about it.”

A more eerie rewrite of my other Palladium Heist story A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

“Agamemnon, I… I wasn’t being myself, I… I don’t know what got into me!” the Ithacan admits, speaking nothing but the truth for once. “The idol, it’s… There is something to it, something otherworldly. Dangerous. I wasn’t aware.”
