Summary
Silco had never had ambition to be a parent—not of a human, anyway. The father of Zaun, sure. An adult adjacent to Felicia’s children, perhaps—though that’s unlikely now. But of a boy? A filthy little sump rat with a limp and a too-small cane and an expression somehow filled with dreamy wonder despite all the work the undercity had done to beat it out of the child? The idea is laughable.
Yet here he is, being followed back to his very humble home—hard to afford anything after you’ve lost everything—by a shadow of a boy.
There are thousands of orphans on the streets of the undercity. Why this one, why this mouse-quiet boy? It’s a stupid question, because he knows why. It’s the fire of curiosity in those golden eyes, the way he doesn’t flinch when seeing Silco’s face, the way he puts together little machines to pass the time.
It’s how the words, “You look like Mama, a little,” sound in that quiet, shy voice.

Summary
Kevin leans in, so close Jean can see the kaleidoscope of green in his eyes. Lighter, darker, with small brown spots Jean noticed in the sunlight once and has been trying not to obsess over ever since. He stops just a breath away when his nose brushes against Jean’s, very softly, very devastatingly.
He makes a soft hm sound like he’s solving a puzzle of how to proceed.
"Tilt your head," Jean hints, tapping his index finger to Kevin’s jaw. He could do it himself—he has thought of the mechanics often enough to almost know what to do—but he can’t let go of the idea of having Kevin be the one to make the first move. If this insanity is to happen, if Kevin wants to break yet another rule just because he can, Jean wants to forever hold the knowledge that it was Kevin who kissed him first.
Kevin obeys, and it brings them even closer, just a little tilt of the chin away.
or, Kevin has a very, very bad idea.

I have no words to express how delightful, well-written, stunningly pitch-perfect this is. The flow of banter is incredible. I wish I could pick one moment to quote but that would basically be the whole fic. Still I can try to list my favouritest favourite things: how alive and vibrant and charismatic and magnetic Robby feels, which makes sense given the tiny glimpses we get of his "normal" in the series, and makes his state in the series much more devastating. How dim and grey Jack feels at the beginning, how he and the narrations seem to light up once Robby comes in, and how at the end his loss slams back into him and takes the form his scrambling to get Robby's pulse. How hot and fun and in-sync the sex was, how they're both so clearly into it, how Jack voices that he thinks this is a one-shot and how quickly and easily Robby opens the door for many encores...
Sorry about the rant. I am just genuinely baffled by the easy flow of this story. What a way to write.
