His lips were moving but Todoroki just blinked dumbly at him. He should be able to hear his loudest classmate yell at him, but everything was silent. Even the crumbling of buildings around them.

Summary
Shouto Todoroki awoke after the war burnt all over by his own brother in his attempt to kill him. As if this wasn't bad enough, his father is in the middle of a scandal regarding his own abuse, which Shouto had tried to hide from his classmates, teachers, and friends since he could remember. Struggling with his own addictions, mental illness, PTSD, anxiety, and depression as well as his newfound health concerns, he begins to break. He is taken in by Aizawa and Yamada who hope to help him in his mental breakdown, but there isn't much they can do before he falls apart. When he does shatter, it's up to Aizawa and his close friends to pick up the pieces, making him whole again.
Aka a really depressing whump with a kind, happy recovery.

Summary
Being a hero requires one to give up their own safety and do everything they can for the safety of the people around them and the general public. Shouto had been taught how to negotiate a hostage situation and had undergone many simulations during training. Yet, in their second year, while on patrol with Bakugou and Midoriya, a hostage situation ends with him killing someone. Shouto must deal with the blood on his hands and come to terms with what he did while being praised by the media, his classmates, and his teachers. It makes him wonder if being a hero really is worth it.

He almost wanted to cry thinking about how foreign this whole exchange was. How he can’t remember a single time he’s hugged Shoto other than right now. It was sad to think about, so he stopped.
Shoto sagged more and started falling asleep in his hug, and Natsuo chuckled. Like actually let out a verbal laugh. Not because it was funny…
but because it was quite disturbing how unwell Shoto must be feeling to have this much physical touch at one time.
