Kara cradles her pile of dirty plates. She doesn’t know how to open Lena’s brand new dishwasher without ripping the handle apart. She usually figures these things out through trial and error, but she’s never been alone in Lena’s apartment, and she can’t risk winging it in front of her.
So, she just stands by the sink and watches the hot water redden Lena’s sensitive skin, the light glinting off her beautiful earrings, and my happiness bites the plum of your mouth.The verse comes to her, unbidden, from one of their weekly poems. Lena always chooses poems with such physicality to them. Always real, touchable.

Lena’s shoulders slump in mock exasperation. “Kara, don’t start with me.”

What a smug little shit, Lena thinks. But God is she cute. “You really don’t want to play this game.”
"Yeah? Maybe I do.”
It’s said so softly, so gently, and if this was one of Siobhan’s movies, they wouldn’t be talking about the money or drinks at all, they’d be talking about something clenching around Lena’s chest, something stifling, a loneliness that paralyzes her bones.
“Don’t blame me when you lose,” Lena says with a gentle upturn of her mouth, her voice low and crackling, leaving a fifty-dollar bill on the bartop before she turns away.

“It’s a lot easier for me to keep my grip on you when I can actually feel your body.”
The phrase feel your body said in Kara’s voice rattles around in Lena’s head like a pinball machine, but she manages to shrug her sweater off and throw it somewhere behind them before she can second-guess herself. Kara is looking comfortable in a loose white t-shirt, and when she takes Lena by the waist and puts Lena’s hand on her shoulder the texture of it is light and soft.
“Let’s start from square one,” Kara says, so kindly that her next words take a few seconds to register in Lena’s brain. She tightens her grip on Lena’s waist, and says with full confidence:
“Dancing is a lot like sex.”
OR
Against her better judgement Lena agrees to compete on Dancing with the Stars for the PR boost. When her chemistry with her partner Kara gets misconstrued by the press, there’s obviously only one solution.

It’s not like Kara deliberately sets out to make her life harder than it should be. It’s not her fault that she’s excitable, okay, and she forgets things sometimes and maybe those things should not be forgotten under any circumstances. Maybe those things include, well, housing forms, which as it turns out are super important to submit on time if she wants to not be homeless on her sophomore year of college.
Her sister’s going to give her so much crap about this.
Alternatively: in which Kara forgot to fill out the housing form and was left with no choice but to live in the most exclusive apartment on campus.

This story has been kind of hinted at in discussions as 'klepto!Kara' and 'pen!fic'. It started with a ficlet response on Tumblr that is included here as the start of the story, in case you find the first couple of paragraphs familiar!
The premise: the blue-and-white blouse Kara wears in Bizarro looked more like something Cat would wear than Kara. We assume then, Kara spilled and then borrowed Cat's clothes without asking. Cat has a ... challenging reaction to that development. Kara, enticed, decides to start stealing certain things from Cat to grab her attention.
It, well, works.
She definitely gets Cat's undivided attention.
