Stuck in a ghost-like state, the boy enters a race against time in order to save himself from permanently dying. Much to his luck - or lack of it -, the only person who can see and talk to him in this state is no one other than Kacchan.

He was drunk, drunk on this feeling of giddy happiness now that he was next to her, drunk on the thought of kissing her later when the night was almost over and the room less crowded.Saying “I love you” for the first time is more complicated than Denki had ever thought it would be.
The timing is never right and the words get stuck in his throat because they´re so much more than just three words and maybe he has to understand what they actually mean to him, to them, first. Because being in love for the first time is confusing. And finding the courage to admit that is too.Or:

“Kacchan?” he breathed in question, his own eyes deceiving him.
Further down, his hands where pressed into his side, drenched in more blood than Izuku knew could even be in a human, feebly trying to stop the flow around a piece of rebar that was sticking through his flesh.
His mind went blank, silent.
The pain that he’d had from his own injuries seemed to just disappear in that moment, and terror and nausea and every bad emotion he could imagine flooded his body.
People were coming. He could hear the sirens and the shouting, heroes and first responders probably, and he knew he should move, should scream, should do something, but he couldn’t. Izuku was frozen in place, unable to breathe.
“D-Deku.”
OR
Katsuki and Izuku were out on patrol when they get attacked. Katsuki gets horribly injured, and Izuku is out for revenge.

“C’mon, stupid ass,” Katsuki brushes a hand against Izuku’s matted hair. “You gotta wake up.”
His already dirty hand comes away wet with grime. “You need a bath,” Katsuki tells the unconscious boy. Then looks down at himself and grimaces. “Shit, I need one too. How are you not coming to from my stench alone is beyond me,” he shakes Izuku’s shoulder. “C’mon, let’s get this over with so we can go have a bath,” he rubs a bit of dirt covering Izuku’s freckles and bends down to whisper closer to Izuku’s ear. “I’ll do your back, and you can do mine.” He presses his cheek against Izuku’s forehead. “It’ll be grand, I’ll shampoo your hair, and I’ll be nice and gentle about it, too.”
He shakes him harder, “‘Zuku?”
He doesn’t know what or how it finally clicks, but suddenly, he has his ear pressed to Izuku’s chest.
His heart. His fucking heart has stopped beating.
“OFA give him back to me, you fucking cursed power!” He rages at the empty air around Izuku, knowing they’ll hear him somehow. “Stop fucking punishing for having emotions! Give Deku back! You hear me?!” He raises his clasped hands and brings them down on Izuku’s chest. “GIVE HIM BACK TO ME!”
