He bites his lip again, like the pain will shake him awake if this is all a dream. It feels like it is, being comfortable and warm and surrounded by people who love him regardless of the things he hates most. His past and his scars and his fears. He doesn’t wake up, though, and he thanks the God he doesn’t know if he believes in.
He sleeps in his bed. Kiara by his side, pressed against his chest. They sleep with the window open and the door cracked, just so he doesn’t feel trapped. They talk and talk, about everything and nothing in the comfort of the dark. The only light coming from the moon and the stars outside.
AKA The Pogues buy the house JJ grew up in, and they pour their hearts into making it a home. Even when JJ can't sleep in his childhood bedroom or share the memories of his past, they stick by his side and carry him through the change. He's never been more grateful. A further take on how JJ copes with buying back the Maybank house, and the first few days after moving in.

JJ doesn’t move. He rubs his face with his hands, looks to the door.
“No one’s coming in.”
“They’re on the porch, B.”
“It’s alright,” John B says.
JJ is looking at him now, and his eyes are wide. JJ doesn’t scare easily. He doesn’t shy away from a fight or ever miss the chance to stand up for his people.
But being seen? That scares the shit out of JJ.

Time blurs between the first time John B patched up JJ, and all the times inbetween. JJ struggles with letting people in and letting himself be seen-- the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Pope shakes his head, rubs his neck. “You don’t want me to make this a thing.”
JJ nods, says nothing.
“I have to make this a thing, J,” he says finally. JJ groans, but deep down he’s glad someone doesn’t listen to him for once. “I don’t know what’s going on. I want to help.”
“Nothin’s goin on,” JJ mutters. “This isn’t new, Pope.”
“Yea, I gathered that much.”
Pope waits. He’s always had a way of getting to JJ, even when his other friends couldn’t. JJ would spill all his secrets to Pope, if he asked. He always will.

I got myself into this situation. I deserve the consequences. JJ’s eyes slipped shut and his body relaxed into the gentle swells. They would rock him to sleep in the forever and beautiful unknown. Sure, the pogues would be sad, but they would get over it. Their lives would be way more stable without him in it anyways. Maybe they could even get Poguelandia back and return to living the dream.
His vision started to crowd with black when he heard the slight hum of a motor. Squinting into the sunset’s reflection, he saw a boat beginning to emerge. Does God typically arrive on a Mako 334 to welcome his children home?
OR
JJ is suicidal, and he's spiraling hard. Set in the last few episodes of Season 4. Follows the plot of the show when I feel like it.

This is just something I decided to write because I miss JJ and Lexi (my OC from my OBX fanfiction), and I wanted to write their first time hooking up from JJ’s POV. You don’t have to read the whole series for this to make sense, as it is roughly set at the end of episode 2 in season one.

These hints only come in your sleep; It could be your soulmate’s hair, their emotions, the song they’re listening to, their favorite color, the city they’re in— anything. When you encounter your soulmate, the hints get more frequent and detailed, less vague, and realer at times both in and outside of consciousness to help you find your soulmate quicker. The restriction to this world is that this soulmate-finding-sensation is not a very… widely talked about phenomenon. Everyone knows it exists, and people do discuss and gossip about their soulmates, of course. But it can also be a taboo topic to be open to all of society at times, since dreams can be, in short words… unpredictable and inappropriate for such conversations. So, it’s basically an unspoken societal rule to keep conversations about finding someone’s soulmate on the down-low.
