Eddie was immediately intrigued, sitting up slightly and taking a drag, his eyes locked onto Steve. He blew out the smoke in Steve’s direction before smirking at him. “Well? Don’t leave me hanging, Stevie, I must know what’s going on in that beautiful noggin of yours.”
An idiotic grin pulled at Steve’s lips from the ridiculous compliment as he waved away the smoke. “Okay, but remember that it’s stupid.” He ran a hand through his hair, trying to figure out exactly how to word this idea that he didn’t even quite realize was going to involve Eddie until he’d spoken. “So you know how Dustin is like determined that me and Robin should be dating?”
Eddie’s eyes narrowed a little, leaning back again. “Yeah?”
“And you know how Valentine’s Day is coming up?”
Eddie hit the joint again, expression unreadable. “You need me to help you ask Robin out?” he asked.
“What? No– Fuck, I started that wrong…”

Steve would be surprised he ended up in this situation if not for how much his parents tended to forget about him, love him or not. Honestly, he was sort of glad when they did, especially now. His parents were strict, judgemental, very particular. When they left him behind, those were some of the happiest times of his life. And now – he was alone in New York with his father’s wallet and who knew how long before his parents even realized where he’d ended up, if they cared at all.

The kind of people he wouldn’t really want to be friends with. “You want to go there? But why? There’s other shops nearby.”
“Okay, sure, but this one is right there. I can go get a tattoo and then come bother you the rest of the day–”
“You mean complain about how much it hurts–”
“More like show off how awesome it’s gonna look. Plus it seems like a really cool place, and the owner plays D&D, he posts about it all the time! It’s like the best place to get this tattoo, Steve.”
