It was far more important to them than he was, so that must be why. There is no way that it was because he was getting attached to it.

His brother stood over him eyes wide as a look of panic and what appeared to be guilt flicker across his face. “I didn’t-” Kuusuke started before halting in his tracks. His breaths were still tight and unsteady and only seemed to become more so. “Kusuo, I-” He swallowed and stumbled a few steps back to create space between them. Finally, he laughed, “I mess everything up.”
Before he could respond, Kusuo found himself waking up in his bed. From the other side of the room, Kuusuke sat up, blankets shuffling as he moved.

Summary
A stuffed white cat plushie with purple button eyes sat on a chair in the middle of the room. Despite its coloring making it prone to staining, there wasn’t a speck of dust on it. On the floor in front of the chair lay scattered stuffing, white and yellow fabric, and two green buttons that used to be eyes. The second toy was shredded to the point of being unidentifiable, but it, too, used to be a cat, and it will be again. To be torn apart, shredded, hanged, stabbed, and ripped apart at the seams, and to be put back together with hours of careful sewing.
