"...I shouldn’t even be writing this guide. You’d be so much better off if you forgot about this, if you tuck this under the rug and never revisit these memories. Because at the end of the day, these beings are not human. And they never will be."
Tubbo has seen legends. He has seen heroes be born and he has seen heroes die.
It's a good thing, then, that he is not a hero.

tldr; Tubbo befriends the spirits. Like most things, this has consequences.

    Summary

So here's the thing: Merle Dixon is dead as fuck. And as it turns out, Beth Greene is the only one who can see or hear him. Which is weird considering she's never met or even heard of this guy, let alone anyone with the last name Dixon. That's her first problem.

The second problem? Merle won't leave her alone. He insists that he will literally haunt her entire family if she doesn't help him resolve some kind of weird conflict concerning his death. And for some reason it concerns his brother, too. So Beth has no choice but to confront and try to convince the living—and extremely stubborn—Daryl Dixon to not only believe her, but also help her.

Admittedly, she has no idea what she's getting herself into. And who could? A fake psychic's cryptic advice, a bunch of brotherly angst, a mysterious Swamp Witch, a deal with a demon, a battle against time for the fate of two souls, and a shit ton of repressed childhood trauma. Oh, and on top of all that... the relentless Merle Dixon and his ever enlightening commentary.

“‘N more hoodies,” George answers with a frown, nuzzling deeper into the pulse of his neck and whimpering when it beats against the curl of his nose.

Oh love,” Dream sighs unexpectedly, pulling away and eliciting a high whine from George at the missing comfort. Dream doesn’t pull away far, not far enough for his body heat to escape their proximity, but it’s not as warm as before, and that’s enough for George to complain.

But then Dream reaches around himself and tugs at his own hoodie, slowly starting to pull it up. George is quick to protest with a frown. “But you’ll-”

Shhh,” Dream coos quietly into his temple, kissing it before continuing softly, “let me take care of you.”

George is having a bad morning, but thankfully, Dream is there to warm him up.

    Summary

Tubbo has always cared about preserving history. The cruelest part of Doomsday was the destruction of New L’Manberg’s library: so many lessons lost to time, texts incinerated into blue smoke. He concentrates, and summons into his hand the First Decree. “No fireworks,” he reads unsteadily, “No armor worn inside city limits. Honor democracy. Hold an election in seventy days time.” He looks up at Wilbur and bites his tongue. “Is this what you would have wanted? Are you proud of me?”

The dead man just sighs and shakes his head. “Your country was never even supposed to exist. How do you still not get that?”

He thinks he can conjure up a time when his friend was not so sullen and sad. “Remember your Declaration of Independance?” He gives Wilbur a thin leaflet. “‘Suck it, Green booooiiii,’ y’know?”

His hands crumple the old document, and his face is sallow, embittered. “Green boy won.”

“Not yet,” Tubbo says cautiously, “Because Tommy’s still out there, right? Still fighting?”

    ***
Tubbo dies during the disc war finale and uses his time in purgatory to unlock all the secrets of the universe.

    Summary

It is him and him alone. It always has been. It always will be. There is no one watching over him. There is no one looking out for him.

But as he watches the ink patterns come and go on his skin—music discs, guitars, wings—he wonders if there is more to life than just fighting, than just surviving.

He wonders if soulmates are real.

or: A boy with a past too painful to recount meets a child too hollow for his age, a teenager too quiet for his voice, and a man too kind for his circumstances—and learns to love them all.
