Summary
When Zane and the ninja are corrupted by a dark force in Lloyd's absence, they morph into their worst nightmares. However, only one ninja's transformation has devastating consequences. Zane, as the ice emperor, attempts to kill Pixal, his betrothed and love of his life, damaging and scarring her for life. While the other ninja are able to move on and continue their old lives, Zane and Pixal find themselves thrust into a permanent before and after.
This fic has the possibility of being connected to Dragons Rising season five which has not been released during the writing of this fic. This is most likely is an AU and is a stand-alone work. It contains some DR characters but it is focused on the main ninja.

Zane has never had a very strong grasp on who he is. His father's recent passing threw his mind into disarray, and the last twenty-four hours have only made that feeling worse. Meeting Pixal, someone he'd hoped could finally understand him, then having her turn on him at the drop of a hat has confused him far more than he thought possible. Now he's on the run from machines that should have brought him solace; from a droid that reached down to his core, twisted and pulled at his heart, and Zane is beginning to question what any of it is for. What HE is for.

Summary
Zane is thrilled to see Cole again, he really, truly is. He just wishes, for his brother's sake, that the current version of "Zane" was still the person Cole came to rescue. He's not; he can't be. He wishes Cole would understand that.
AKA: At one point in season 4, Zane says "I am just a replica" and that absolutely sent me. Contains lots of internal monologue where Zane believes he is no longer himself, and a conversation between Zane and Cole that only upsets both of them.
