With every stride, she got closer and closer, with several near misses. The frigid wind on her face, the blue jewel of the moon overhead, and the adrenaline rushing through her veins, all of it formed an intoxicating concoction.
Akita sprinted with all her might, her arms throwing her forward with each step, panting. In an attempt to get ahead, she jumped onto the highest clouds, watching as the wolf made no indication that it saw her. Like a marathon hunter, she didn’t let any movement go to waste. Perhaps this is what it’s like to run in the forest. She couldn't wait to join her brother.
With one last desperate lunge, she collided with the howling wolf and was engulfed in blinding, beautiful light.
