Summary
Sayaka wakes up to find herself in a strange place she doesn't recognize, alongside her classmates Leon, Chihiro, Mondo, Kiyotaka, Hifumi, Celeste, and Sakura. Imprisoned by a strange Monokuma, they are forced to rely on each other in order to find a way to escape.
But that's easier said than done. Especially when, as they progress, everyone begins to remember disturbing details regarding their deaths and executions - which affects everyone in a variety of ways. Some take it much harder than others.
Sayaka quickly realizes she has to step up to the plate in order to make sure everyone makes it out. She needs to figure out how, and more importantly, WHY they were revived. And whether or not it was good idea in the first place.
But answers won't come easily. Especially when someone's bound to snap.

“What?! What about them?” Hina asked, alarmed. “Did Monokuma-or Junko -do something to them?”
“Are they ghosts?!” Hiro yelled, his eyes wide.
“No they’re not g-ghosts you i-idiot!” Toko yelled. “Th-they’re alive!”Frankly. Makoto Naegi was a little sick of Hope's Peak, and especially Junko Enoshima. All he wanted was to get out of this school, see his family again, and spread hope to the world or something along those lines.
However, as luck would have it, Junko has roped him and the other survivors into something bigger than he's anticipated, despite clearly being dead.
Although... death in this world seems to be not quite as clear as they had previously thought.// in which thh was a simulation, and the kiddos have trauma. yay!

There's a lot of what-ifs out there. Many, many possibilities. Some even speculate about branching timelines because of all the different choices and actions that can be taken.
In this one, Sayaka Maizono didn't try to go through with her plans for murder. For better or for worse, Makoto Naegi helped her keep it together that night, and he didn't even know.
... But derailing the Despair train is not so easy. Even if Sayaka didn't fire the first shot, it was still inevitable to go off. That's just how the Killing Game operated... It was designed to break even the sturdiest of souls, the strongest of minds. The weak would be preyed on.
But just as inevitable as Despair could be... so, too, could Hope.
Loose sequel to "A Soft Heart to Protect" - you don't have to read to understand the gist, but references may come up. New murders, new survivors, possibly even new motives in the future.
