Chance wanted to run. He wanted to yell and scream at Mafioso to shut up. Nothing true was coming out of Mafioso's mouth, but he was rooted in place.
"There isn't a point for me to kill you,” Mafioso murmured. “You're already dead."OR
Chance and Mafioso didn't have the tightest of relationships— at least after Chance had stolen from Mafioso's casino. As Chance attempts to navigate through his thrill addiction, egoistic performance, and trust issues, he begins to understand how much he lost due to his pride. Being isolated into a cycle of killings, Chance learns the importance of empathy and apologies, turning towards Mafioso for guidance. Each string is tangled with personal arrogance, but beneath it all, Chance simply wants to be accepted unconditionally.

Chance wanted to feel free.
He couldn’t afford to keep living inside his own skin. Every attempt to keep going only drove the blade deeper into his chest, leaving the hollowness inside him just as empty as before.
Mafioso had watched it all. Love was supposed to ease another person’s burdens, yet all Mafioso could do was stand beside him and watch him drown.
If this life refused to offer Chance peace, then perhaps they needed a new beginning. They just needed to restart. Together.

“In a perfect world where miracles existed, if you could be cured by true love, then would you take the risk of delving into a possibly endless pursuit? Because what is true love defined by? There are so many forms of love that exist in this world. Take the Spawn– for example, it loves us as its children, but we love them as a god. Then there’s platonic love, sexual love, familial love, or romantic love– is that not true? Either way, which one would lead someone to being cured?”
Aspen rambled on, ceaselessly, as their anxieties began to pour out from the cracks that had formed on their mind. Bit by bit, the leaks of doubt began to trickle out.
“I have never once loved. Or at least, by the definition of most books and literature– I have never loved someone beyond a platonic or familial sense. I don’t experience the butterflies that wrack my stomach with nauseating motions, and I have never once felt my nerves jitter in hope that a person would notice me. So, what should I do if I am faced with only the option of true love?”

A retelling of the story before Azuretime is forsakened in which Azure has hanahaki disease and deals with the meaning of love.

You know what I find really interesting about the second chapter. Like it was created as an alternative ending to something devasting— yet the comments there were all hopeful..ish? It’s funny how we all search for a “what if” and hope that alternative ending existed.. or else the hurt from regret will forever linger underneath our skin.

You know, there was a time I would celebrate a tails coin flip. I’m naturally very lucky, and losing is the ultimate thrill for me. But ever since I came here, my innate ability to do crazy crap and come out the winner has been completely ineffective- like the wretched beast who brought us here completely wiped any of Lady Luck’s blood from my veins. I’m completely and utterly mortal. I do wonder at times if Mum goes looking for me. At least I got to keep my coin, though.
